Up to 8 earthquakes now in last two weeks. More than I've been in rest of my life, i think.

    Slept through the last two.

Problem is that it's going to go up to some moment of relief for the families but we all know what happens next.

I know what you're both saying. There have been many times when I've had a break from here over one thing or another but there's always been a normal life to retreat into. The past two years took normality from us except on here where madness carried on regardless. :bandit:

Hey here's another that not606 calmed down. Everyone thought you were a complete an utter nutter on old 606.

It was only here they learned you were a sexual deviant and Carling drinker confirming the fact :bandit:

Seems to me far more players are coming down with covid this time round than previously. Is this because the Omicron variant is more virulent (or at least more easily transmitted) or that people have become less vigilant?
I notice that supermarkets have become very lax in maintaining their disinfectant points lately, and only a tiny minority of people even bother with them. There are people roaming around shops without masks when they're supposed to be wearing them, and the staff never challenge them - presumably reluctant to get into an altercation.
It doesn't help that our government repeatedly shows itself to be in contempt of its own rules, but any reasonable person should understand that our own protection is at stake here, and it's the politicians that need to be brought to heel, not for us follow their flawed and selfish example.

I personally think they are less vigilant but people are after doing Christmas with zero regard really generally.

As I said elsewhere you can watch our guys arrive at games (you can go back through CL as well) and see extremely lax mask wearing so theres no actual "bubble" at all and I'm not at all shocked klopp and linders got it.

If you looked at how klopp was all over son (a recent covid recoveree) at the end of the spurs match or all over opposition teams and linders v cheslea I'd not be at all shcoked it's run through them.

TBH If we were made take a walk over i'd shrug as we've been lax here.

People are treating it like anything else now tbh. If they get it they get it. Will wear masks where they have to but no such thing as social distancing now and people generwlly bored of the whole thing I think.

Given it seems to be less deadly at the moment, think people just rather get back to normality and if they happen to get it then 99% of people has little affect on so just carry on and will do the isolation thing.

Combination of things. People being much more lax as you and others have observed... Also Omicron is vastly mutated and some scientists think it may have swapped some RNA with one of the coronaviruses that cause the common cold. (I think that's in the hypothesis stage with minimal evidence, not proven yet)... But the cold is a proven infector with millennia of experience at making us sick. Combine that with COVID weaponry and....bang.

It's mutated enough that it evades at least some people's vaccines... And previous covid infection is little deterrent to it. So lots of people smuggly thinking they're safe... And they're not.

Its dropped a portion of the protein spike so its detectable in rna tests clearly but why said protein is changed is pure speculation.

This is not about any will, people like to talk in terms of some sort of design or will behind all this.

It's all pure random. Virus dont seek out targets, dont seek different locations, dont think, dont exploit anything. They are an rna strand within a variety of evolved designs and simply attached to a cell, inserts the rna and then things happen and either the cell produces and continues to produce new viruses or the cell burst open realising masses of viruses.

The modifications in replication are random and continue to be random. The amount of viral loads show how many millions of replication that occur and really the changes are what they are. No thought no design.

That describes all of evolution, but just like all evolution, it that lives to reproduce will have its information passed on. The more people unvaccinated, the more chance of mutation. The more mutations, more likely one will have a mutation needed to infect previously infected people, or people who are vaccinated.

Virus doesn't need to think or have will to evolve over time to reinfect us. And more people that have it, the more chances it gets to mutate and come up with a winning formula.

but viruses are not alive. its pure chance, and yes the more replications the more mutations. This is why biologic drugs use master calls and are very careful to grow the drug molecule producing cells a limited number of times.

Its not a formula though. its just pure chance like rolling a dice.
