This is a good read on Roberts. I must admit I'm not as excited as some about this lad. I've got a good feeling about Hume, though. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www..../man-city-celtic-patrick-roberts-20927142.amp
tell you what lads, no longer do we want/expect some 'marquee signing' to get us excited for the rest of the season, we can see the potential and future with these younger lads and the experience with the older lads, we can finally see that there is indeed a plan and the new regime will not be swayed from that plan (no panic buys or club updates that just say what they think we want to hear) and it looks damn good, none of us know how it will turn out but i am going to enjoy the ride while i can.
Apparently Swindon are after Will Harris, if he goes there then surely we'll be after more than 1 forward this window
I would prefer to keep him but if it means he gets games possibly a decent move. Would want an instant recall built into the deal though.
Mate works as a scout (not at us or swindon) and someone from Swindon asked him for a character reference. This was a week ago like
According to nick barnes on total sport sunderland are potential looking into deals for Josh maja /Jermaine Defoe, I don’t know how true this is as I didn’t listen to the show but apparently we are looking into possible deals for Maja and Defoe
Defoe would be ridiculous in this league. Especially on the end of some of the football we've been playing.
It was a question he put to Speakman. Barnes said we had been linked with them both, not something I had heard so dont know where it had come from. Needless to say Speakman didnt comment on individual players
Hume looks like a lad who can play and would slot into the style we have. If Roberts gets over the line hes in the same mould that way. Class to see us recruiting with purpose and looking for quality and prospects. More to come I hope! Just leaves you thinking what an absolute farce our transfer business has been at times over the past 14 years or so. Scattergun, I go back to Keanos window after promotion even for that too.
If ever there was an article to show to "wonderkids" to highlight the dangers of signing for clubs like Man City then this is it. Signs with massive fanfare then sits on his arse not playing and just going out on loan but never really nailing down a place anywhere and is now considered as never having fulfilled his potential. This is where SAFC can show we'd be a better option - chance to play 40 odd games a season and really kick on. Far too many kids now just see the pound signs but dont consider the damage it could do to their careers.
This why there needs to be a limit on how many players a club can have under contract. It’s unfair on both other clubs and and on the kids who will never play for them. Not ignoring the current climate where it makes a mockery of these teams calling off games as they don’t have enough players due to covid.
Good to see the likes of Huggins, Cirkin et al choose dropping a couple of levels to get senior games. That will help them to develop tenfold to what continuing with U23 football and the odd Carabao Cup game will do. If we can show a good track record with helping these lads grow then it will entice more to do the same.
