Jeff Stelling and Charlie Nicholas giving their thoughts on us. Charlie saying we haven't been tested yet and the big games away against City and United will be a test for us.

Do we have to play the top 2 to be tested? Surely that's a sign that we're a good side. It's not our fault everyone else isn't good enough to test us FFS <doh>

I can see it now, "Manchester City 3-1 Newcastle United. Newcastle United have suffered a loss in their first hard game of the season. Their dreams of a top 4 place have been smashed by City, who have reminded the magpies that they're only in the top 4 on merit".

To be honest, I think what Charlie Nicholas said about the game was pretty accurate to be honest.

    Lucky to get the win?

I know we didn't play our best but I remember that domination we had near the end of the game up to the Cabaye goal where we were constantly at their defence, if anything we'd be unlucky not to win.

So because we got something against Arsenal and Spurs, they weren't "tests". As soon as we lose, they will say we have failed our first "test". If Liverpool won 1-0 and played badly, they would wheel out the old catchphrase of "It's the mark of a good side". Because it's us, "they were lucky, didn't deserve it etc". Funny world :D and "Crisis Club" Arsenal only 2 points off the "Excellent and unlucky" Liverpool. I will eat my hat if Spurs and Arsenal don't finish above liverpool. I think we have a chance of finishing above them to.

Exactly that, I know it's a different programme but Hansen on MOTD always uses that if Man U have won a scrappy game 1-0. Infuriating when the same isn't said about other teams, but hey ho this is the price we pay for being NUFC supporters.

They're talking about us as top 4 challengers though, so with that context it's true that we haven't faced the big tests. As a top 10 (or top 8) team we've had plenty of challenges and done well.

Nearly started throwing stuff at the telly when Charlie Nicholas was waffling on. Yeah we didn't play well but we still won, I can see us 4 points clear with at the top with 1 game to go and them still going "Newcastle are lucky, not been challenged, likely to get relegated" <doh>

To be fair I watched it and they were talking about us in the context of whether we can really finish top 4. Given we haven't played 4 of the likely top 5-7, I suppose what they were saying was accurate. What they don't realise is though is that if we were to finish in the top 10 we'd all be happy! I still sense a lack of credit and wonder how many we have to play. We are 9 games in so we've just under a quarter of the season, and just under half the league!! Whichever way you want to look at it, they're a good set of results for any team bar the top 4. Its worth noting that this "luck" factor is somewhat overplayed too, why not focus on us having the best defence bar none in the league, conceding less than a goal a game.

Who gives a **** what the 'experts' say - they're all clueless ****s. Between them they have less brain cells than in Nile Rangers left testicle.

Gary Lineker is the only one who should be allowed to comment on the games, as he is probably the most intelligent footballer ever, and is not a ****, unlike the rest of them.

Right Charlie is looking at it as though we are top 4 material. Facts are we are not top 4 but as things stand you would argue the 4th best team would draw with teams around them and beat most of the others. To say Chelsea, United and City are our tests highlights this!

So much negativity!!! Why can't we challenge for higher up the league than 10th? Why can't keep going? level with Chelsea on points & 1 point behind Manure, we should be in the mix, we're better than poxy Stoke, Everton etc Arsenal & Liverpool have no god given right to be ahead of us, Liverpool have a decent striker who's keeping them going at the moment, where would they be without Suarez? And Arsenal can't defend, if they lose RVP they'll be in the ****e as well. We've already shown we're as good as Arsenal & The Spuds.

  18. Outside the top 6, no one has a better team that us. FACT!

We should be able to challenge for 7th.

    So what's your point?

Are we gonna make top 4 then? Do you think we're gonna beat the top 3 teams?

    Oh yeah, he is too.

Lee Dixon isn't as bad as the rest either.
