The problem is that if you sign nobody you definitely get worse. Signing random players by paying money for them almost certainly makes you better. But you never get value for money because the market is skewed against you.

Northampton manager, Jon Brady, on Etete:

This news is obviously a blow to us but Kion has developed so well over the last few months with us that Spurs want to see him play at the next level up sooner than originally expected.

We understand that Spurs received an offer from a Championship club to buy Kion but have no intention of selling, however they feel he now needs to be playing in League One for his continued development.

For Kion’s part he has expressed to me how happy he was with his spell at Northampton and thanked all the coaching staff for making him a better player.

    ————

Interesting that we rejected a permanent offer from a championship side. Club must clearly value him… or knowing us just weren’t happy with the finances of the deal <laugh>. I’d imagine the Cheltenham loan will be announced soon though.

I wonder if we've got anyone in the pipeline that could replace him at Northampton?

We've been playing him up front quite a bit this season

Eriksen is a hard no, surely. I’m surprised he’s even allowed to play in England with his condition, thought it might not be allowed. It’ll take him months to get fit and we have no idea what his peak physical state will be now, he used to cover an awful lot of ground after all and he may have to adapt his style.

I just think there’s way too many question marks about him tbh. Surely a move to Ajax is far more likely.

Signed from a French club usually means flop for Spurs <laugh>

Gianluca Di Marzio has shown up on Skyte Sports and flat out said we're keen to bring him in this month

Doesn't have the straight line speed of Adama Traore, but he has a yard of acceleration and the control to glide through players in a Dembele-like fashion, but more importantly has the passing to pick out a defence-splitting ball (and these things called "assists") coupled with workrate when we don't have the ball

Feels like we owe Northampton a bit after cutting short the loan of a player who was developing quite nicely there. Don’t see why we couldn’t at least offer Scarlett for the second half of the season.

I think one or two said on here he wouldn’t be allowed but seems like that’s not the case and that he can.

Months of training is probably a bit extreme, I think a good 4 weeks and he’d be able to make the squad, it seems like he’s been training on his own for a week or so already. Tough to say if he could last 90 mins ever again, especially in England but he’d be a damn good bench option, I’d rather be bringing on a player like him for the final 20 to help change a game than Ndombele, Lo Celso or Dele.

I don’t see it happening anyway for what it’s worth, it’s just something I’d personally be open too, partly because he’s one of my favourite players and partly because even in his condition he's still better than a number of players we currently have.

Eriksen in any condition would offer more than Ndombele, Dele and Lo Celso combined.

I don’t think he will come back to Spurs because of health reasons but hopefully he manages to play football again somewhere at a decent level

I can see opposition players not wanting to go anywhere near him, just in case.

r/coys: "See? This proves Adama Traore is more than a roided Andros Townsend"
Me: "Hmm, does this mean we should try to sign KWP back?"

Coutinho's apparently due to announce who he'll be joining by the weekend, five Prem clubs interested.

Rumours on Twitter have said Villa are one of those clubs (Gerrard connection I'd imagine) and I reckon we're one of the others based on previous reports and the fact we held an interest a year or so ago. Think Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle could be the three others based on snippets I've read.

Surely he won’t join Villa or Newcastle, I know Newcastle could easily meet his wage demands but there’s a real chance they get relegated and would any top player want to spend a season in the championship.
