    I think it was me.
Conte is a brilliant coach but that doesn't mean he is good at transfers. Similarly Pochettino.
But we were allegedly in for Traore prior to Conte in any case.

Right but very few of us were up for it and those who were basically turned a blind eye out of respect for the fact that he played under Nuno.

The fact that Conte wants him reminded me of (you) questioning his judgement.

Although as others have said he did make Victor Moses look world class so I guess turds can shine with enough polish.

I wouldn't say I was questioning his judgement....I doubt it's worse than average. I just think it's impossible to have an edge in the transfer market so backing any individual isn't likely to work.

I watched Traore today and while he did play a role in the goal he made poor decisions, costing Wolves possession several times and inviting unnecessary pressure on them.

But if Conte wants him then I am willing to be positive...well ... RCL type of positive!!!

I do wonder if we are working on deals behind the scenes rather than telling journalists what we are doing.

It would seem very odd to have no agreed players sorted 4 days into a 31 day transfer window.

We have a serious opportunity to get into the top 4 (God know how) and to not sign an attacking midfielder and strengthen in other areas could see us throwing away a realistic chance of a trophy and a top 4 finish.

Since transfers are supposedly hit and miss and based on luck then presumably conte and poch are as good as levy at transfers. In which case you might as well let conte do the transfers as then he can't get in a hissy fit and blame anyone if he gets it wrong

If that's the choice then I agree. However there ought to be data analysis that minimises the bad buys and gets you somewhere better than relying on an individual judgement. But anyone who goes into hissy fits and the blame game on transfers shouldn't be in a transfer related role.

I think Paratici is a fan of Traore as the links with him got going once he was appointed.

I personally don’t rate Traore as anything but a strong pace merchant with no end product but as long as Conte is happy with a signing then I’ll back it.

For 20 million I’d take the positives Traore brings to a game. He was causing the panic…he’s not the earthquake but he’s defo a tremor to get the pants pooping.

Agree with RCL…lost the ball so easily, made poor decisions when under semi pressure.

basically he’s a short distance sprinter who made it in his secondary sport of choice but still I think he brings ‘something’ off the bench to get the opposition defenders on the back foot.

Traore should be in the building demolition industry,
Kick a ball in front of him and tell him the goal is behind
the wall, and he will run thru it.

Won't score at the end, but the building supported by the wall will collapse.

    Not quite.

In decision making with a probability aspect, the simplest lower bound is 0.5 (50-50) .
So financial considerations aside, you could do a coin toss
and sign a player on the outcome of that.

You could also do a coin toss at the same time as the signing,
and record the outcome - specifically the player will (not) achieve
    to the levels desired.

Then over time, you can easily measure player achievement
    against the cumulative coin tosses.

If your signing success rate (compared to 0,5) is :

    1. less, then your signing regime is sh*te
(the player themselves, the way they are used etc)

    2. equal, then you may as well toss a coin and sign based on the outcome

    3. much higher, then your signing regime is increasingly effective

Lots of chat about Doherty returning to Wolves. Could be good for all parties.

Sounds like we’re gonna recall Etete from Northampton and send him to Cheltenham for the second half of the season. Moving from League 2 to League 1.

Newcastle and Brighton apparently want Rodon. Newcastle initially on a loan but Brighton on a permanent (rumoured asking price is £20m). I like the guy and I think we’ve massively under-utilised him, especially when you look at how many chances other players have had but I think for his sake he needs to go and so if Brighton have the money to spend right now, take their offer. We’ll likely end up regretting it but an immediate cash injection for a player that’s barely played makes sense.

I think Conte sees a place for him in the squad, he’s mentioned it explicitly, but Rodon is in dire need of minutes. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start in the FA Cup game.

I think Conte has struggled with giving him game time because Dier has been in good form and coming in during the season, Conte has had to probably overplay some of his first choices to ensure they learn the system as fast as possible. All of which does nothing for Joe Rodon, who is a promising young player who desperately needs to play and deserves a shot somewhere.

Rodon’s not even that young anymore too which is a bit of a problem for him. If he were a 20/21 year old CB this situation wouldn’t be too bad for him but he’s 24 and only 4 years younger than Dier. Realistically it’s not gonna work out for him unless Dier gets an injury or Conte changes his view on where Rodon can play in that three. We’ve got no European games for him, he won’t get in the Prem side whilst Dier’s fit, he may get starts against Chelsea and Morecambe in the cups but that ain’t enough for a Welsh international. He’s at the lower end of a squad player and that’s not where Rodon will want to be in this stage of his career.
