Maybe the problem isn't the manager, maybe it's the culture. Theyve become too decadent. They've had a wide variety of managers, many of whom were considered very highly rated... They've all had the freedom to spend like crazy and get good quality players (except latest of course).... Maybe the culture has become corrupt, post Fergie they were expected to win, then after a few bad years they got lazy... Easy pay cheques and lazy culture set in and no manager has been able to undo it.

Monopoly money. There's no real block on what they can spend, no FFP (other than the ****ty PL version which doesn't do anything) to worry about and a bank account that is so bottomless it makes Citeh and Chelsea look poor. They've got to buy to save themselves, so they're going to buy whoever they can, but are going to pay a premium to get them.
