I'd prefer them to be creative with myself. Shooting and stabbing is to common for the likes of me to die.
Mate I tell em to do one when they ask my name, a drug swab ain't fukin happening And they aint looking to nick people who test positive for drugs, its just that then gives them the power to search (or so they'll say it like that) when they find the lil baggy of coke you have for your night out that's you nicked or signing some caution papers. And they get thier numbers up to pass to whatever snake will sell it to the people come voting time. Meanwhile round the corner... young shanks has just stabbed lil wheezy to death.
You're a Londoner so explain this to me. I was out in central London until ridiculous o'clock, gone midnight at least, with my teens. I was very conscious of knife crime and violence around London in general, but whatever sideroad you go down in CL you'll find couples walking on their own or the occasional passer-by and nobody was worried and generally I wasn't either. I appreciate a lot of it is the youth and gang culture driving violent crime down there, but there were groups of youth hanging about and I got the impression that police presence and general emphasis on tourist places makes those areas safe to be around at all hours. I could be wrong though.
Creative death? A satellite is knocked out of orbit and comes plummeting to earth landing next to a ram and sending it flying through the air where it's nuts get cut off on the blades of a passing helicopter which send them at you as you stare open mouthed in shock... Then the nuts land with force into your mouth causing you to start choking... You stumble into the road trying to gasp for breath and get hit by an ambulance. The medics in the ambulance do emergency tracheal surgery allowing you breathe but don't sterilize properly so you get flesh eating bacteria infect your throat and then have a nasty allergic reaction to the medicine they use to treat it and that drives you insane. In your insanity, you think the toaster is a rubber duck and take a bath with it electrocuting yourself, which interestingly doesn't kill you but puts you in a coma. You start to recover but still need machine assistance but finally die when a visitor unplugs your machine to recharge his phone so he can watch Stoke play Blackburn in a League Cup second round game. ... In hindsight, probably a bit unrealiatic. I doubt they would televise Stoke vs Blackburn.
Not really sure what it is you're asking me? Noticible Police presence in Central has always been a thing tbh My problem with this is prioritys, the priority seems to be collecting "figures" using tactics like this while the rest of the city descends into a fuking battle Royal. Scooter fines and confiscations while renting them out = pure revenue collection 20 feds standing outside the big stations fining tourists and idiots who let them on the spot for dropping ***buts = revenue collection Now walking round collering bystanders having a good time causing no bother = get them drug figures up It ain't even thier fault, they do what they are told innit. But the prioritys are all bent the wrong way round for me.
Back in the day when I read this alleged true story in Readers Digest... A man was fixing his motorbike which had broken down on some interstate out in the middle of nowhere in some place like Arizona, I forget. An eagle was holding on to some rattlesnake it had caught out in the desert. The eagle lost its grip and the snake fell, landed on the man, promptly bit and killed him. The eagle meanwhile swooped down, picked up the rattlesnake and flew off, presumably to have it for its lunch.
This ^^ Makes me angry they've done nothing to stop these kids from stabbing one another, yet if someone dies of covid they question everything. I wasn't brought up in an environment where you fought tooled up, you used your fists, and not to you were seen as a coward.
I suppose what I'm asking is, does having police presence of any sort helps to improve the area? In that it brings the area up rather than allowing the seedier side to take over. Unfettered dealing of drugs brings other unsavoury characters and activity and that brings the area down and has a snowball effect. The reason I say this, is because this consciously crossed my mind when I was walking around down there. It doesn't take away from what you're saying about it all being a game of stats for the coppers but like I said, it did make me think it's a psychological thing as well.
The knife crime does not appear to be random or in most cases not against passers by, it appears to be related to rival gangs showing who is boss in certain areas of London If it was aimed at passers by I am sure there would be a massive crackdown and would be non stop in the media
The joke is sadiq was in his twitter soap box just a few days ago pouring his hear out for the two kids stabbed to death over new years. Even had the cheek to talk about not tolerating this anymore in the city. Well sadiq, while your officers have been busy the last few years fining people for ***buts, stealing thier property, oh and raping and murdering young women the city broke its own record of 29 youth knife deaths to 30 this year. This country is just completely fukin ****ed man
Good post and I do understand this, but you also have random youth getting stabbed up as well. Although I accept not random older passers by
This is the fundamental problem with the prohibition of drugs for me. Yes a police presence of course has an effect on that particular area, but the problem doesn't go away it just moves, often to more seeder or dangerous places, that not inky effect the person who uses (they now have to go to a trap house to get drugs for example - anything can happen in one of those) Also wherever they move to then has to deal with the results of that element but without the police presence. What would make sense is you decriminalise all usage, control the supply, which means cleaner safer drugs = less drug deaths. Police don't have to waste time nicking people with a spliff on them. Provide safe spaces where users can go = instead of having users sitting in doorsteps in your area where your kids live. If the problem is drug users and dealers making central look shabby then take the problem away. But nah. Round and round we go
I worked in London for many years and had the occasional late night, usually work related, and I never felt to be in danger when in a suit and carrying a briefcase when passing a group of lads of all races, unless they were muggers I felt I was safe, I was always alert for the opportunist thief and primed to change my grip on the briefcase so I could use it for defence or attack but never really felt in any real danger from groups of lads who were just hanging out
I wonder if the bird got bit by the snake too. Be quite an unusual event if the snake came out of that as the only survivor... Or if none did (eagle could have killed snake before venom kicked in.
Well amen to that. As long as the way it's governed is more akin to Amdam and not like the States where it's virtually unregulated in the quality, production and usage. BTW the other thing which needs to be mentioned is the effect of 10 years of austerity, the cuts to policing and the social provision for the youth who are being driven towards that gang culture. It's easy to write that off as a lefty soft touch, but it's an important part of the wider fabric of dealing with the problem. Its abolition over the past decade has directly impacted on the rise in gang culture and street crime.
But how would you know who was a mugger? Incidentally, I read an interesting statistic, men get mugged far more often than women (by seasoned criminals). Women are more likely to scream and draw attention than men. Women are also more likely to report the crim than men. Despite men being stronger than women, you're far better off targeting men than women if you want to remain on the street. Also, they look for people with limps or mobility problems. So if you don't want to be a victim of mugging, I recommend cross-dressing and walking tall and proud any time you visit London.
