I'd like them to have their independence. They're a proud nation with a pretty ****ing glorious history. They deserve it.

Frankly, I'd like Wales and Northern Ireland to have it to.

The less people the bunch of ****s in Whitehall and Westminster are governing and in turn absolutely ****ing over, the better.

Truth is, they couldn't afford independence, whether they like it or not, the UK government props them up.....and that is whatever party is in government.
They couldn't sustain what they currently provide.....free prescriptions, University fees etc without uk help.
If I was Scottish, I think I would be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

And there's the truth on this matter.... If you drill down into the numbers no-way could the Jocks afford to sustain an economy as an Independent country. The scariest thought is..IF..they voted and it happened, some of the current SNP would oversee that transition...They need to be careful what they wish for

If we think Brexit has been acrimonious and continues to be... Scots independence would be off the scale.

Mrs Krankie for example will not obviously accept a fair share of the national debt. We would probably retaliate by withholding transition funds, and as mentioned above its doubtful the current tax yield in Scotland will cover outgoings; Krankie would then have to borrow from international money markets, probably at a penalty interest rate as Scotland may not be seen as a going concern; or raise tax rates. If Krankie decided to opt for a Scottish currency say the Groat, even pegging it to Sterling... the cost of borrowing would be even higher. If they stuck with Sterling, they really do not have independence.

It would almost be worth it to see those arguing against Brexit using the other side of the argument to argue for Scottish independence. The plan to hop immediately into bed with the EU indicates they just want a different person to pay their way for them. The political point scored would sharp wear thin when they're badgering Brussels for billions every year and blaming them for all their self inflicted ills.
Scotland is its own country in all but name anyway. It gets to keep it's own cultural identity.

Can’t stand the ****ers. Sooner they **** off the better and they can take the Welsh with them.

I’d love to see an independent England in my lifetime.

I don't know anything about the numbers at all but I'm sure there would be a hellish reset require across the board.

And that would be their problem to deal with as independent Scots. I assume they'd have to get ****ing busy distilling whiskey.

I’d prefer the UK or at least Britain stayed as one. It would be financial suicide for the smaller countries if the broke away.(admittedly I know nowt about state finances). We’d have to hit them like the EU hit us, no looking after them. And as for the hatred I always think of the armed forces and brave lads and lasses that have looked after us for centuries working side by side, Disagreements are fine but I don’t understand the hatred.

Sturgeon in particular, has no interest in independence at all.

She has to pretend to be, otherwise her raison detre vanishes. But it's the money she likes. Vast salary, very generous pension, expenses, red carpet treatment, very well paid job for her husband and a fawning press, indulgent BBC and timid police force, ( £600k? What missing £600k?).

And no responsibility. Blame everything on " Westminster " or "Boorrrris Joohhhnson" or any other PM actually. This despite the having full control of many areas, including health and education, which under the SNAZIs have hugely under achieved compared to all other areas of the UK.

There is an economic case for independence, but it is never put, because it will involve very large and ongoing cuts to all public services for a long period, whichever way it is looked at. But there is a case , and the Scots may feel it is worth the pain. I would respect that view, but the case is never put honestly.

The there is the certainty of a " talent drain" South in the run up to any official referendum. This happened before 2014, and it will happen again. I know of two people, both really qualified engineers who came down then, and they won't be going back. England's gain, and they are not alone.

If Thatcher hadn't frittered away the oil bonanza and Scotland had been allowed to hang into the cash windfall and build up a Sovereign Fund, as Norway has.. independence would be easier. They weren't so it isn't.

No wait, am not offended, <laugh>
Am British and proud to be,

The Welsh/Scottish etc assemblies should be fooked off and the bastards in Westminster need sorting and bringing to book.

I agree with ALMOST everything you say.
But not the bit about the geriatrics.

I expect that I'm amongst the oldest of the regular posters, and while I'm anti The SNP, I'm very pro Scotland and the Scottish People.
If it comes to the crunch I believe that the SNP will lose another Independance Vote, but if they get the nod, so be it.
