This was a big thing for me last night. I thought we stood up to them physically and absolutely refused to be bullied. Wright early on with their wide lad, Gooch standing up to them and the Embleton v Bannan tangle were as important times in the game as the goals. Great to see.
More or less exactly as I expected. We lost a few games to give these lesser teams a chance and keep the league fairly exciting. Now we just blow the f*ckers away and win the league.
It’s all about the results so to be top of the league at this time is job half done. Come end of season we need the full job done.
This league is becoming more difficult every season and with the likes of Derby and potentially Barnsley coming down next year it isn't going to get any easier...But I think given what we have seen since our "blip" I reckon we will go up in the top 2...I really don't fancy the lottery that is the play-offs
During our poor run teams seemed to have worked out that playing a high line against us was the way to beat us and for a couple of games it worked. Against Sheffield Wednesday, they tried it and we showed that we had learned how to play against teams doing that. Well done the coaches and LJ for identifying this weakness and turning it into a strength. If a team plays a high line or holds back we have a plan. Just one of the improvements we’ve made. I think this is our year Lads.
If you went back to the beginning/first 10 or so games of the season and asked yourself "who would be the first name(s) on the teamsheet"....who would you pick? Now ask the same question now.....choices changed? How many would be "first name on the teamsheet"....getting harder to choose isn't it. I think we are in a great position now....players have come in to cover injuries, and when them players come back they will really have to fight to get back in the side. That's a great position to be in.
thats a good point actually...i think we as fans would have gone for 'mature and reliable' rather than the young lads as our first 11 but those same young lads have done themselves and the club proud and it would be hard not to pick them now, we really do have a good squad and look to be building with the future in mind rather than the quick fix that has failed us so often.
My thoughts at halfway are simple (shut up), avoid another winless run and we'll go up automatically.
