The anger is directed at Newcastle too because they’re the ones we are due to play. I’m not bothered by Leeds cancelling games if it doesn’t affect us, with all due respect.

The other issue is that we may have played a different team against spurs earlier in the week if we had known that we wouldn’t be playing the Sunday too.

It’s the indirect issues caused as well by this mess of a system.

And just to be clear, as I have mentioned on our board too, if the situation was reversed our fanbase would be coming out with exactly the same complaints - so none of this is a dig at yourselves. Just taking the chance to put across the other side of the argument. Not expecting to win anybody over though!!

Basically we're all just f*cked off because we were going to absolutely smash you (1-0 with a dodgy own goal) this Sunday. And now we're all scared that when we finally play you Mbappe will score a hat-trick and you'll thrash us with your shiny new team.

I think a lot of our fanbase are going to be disappointed or surprised when the transfer window is over. We don't need someone like Mbappe - we need some fighters who will try and get us out of the ****hole we have put ourselves into. No world superstars are going to come to Newcastle in this window unless they are well past their best and want a final big payday. Those aren't what we want or need!!

Just look at Man United for an example. They try to sign superstars to placate Woodward’s ego (really odd thing for an accountant) and it fails time and time again

Forced to overpay on fees and wages and not one of their current team gets into a top 3 side

The sorts of players they are being linked with now - promising hungry ones with bargains attached due to contracts are who they should always have been going for and who Newcastle should be. And there is a mutual link. The Marseille chap I think?

You should be happy though. Your manager will be well-suited to getting you promoted again, that’s basically all he has ever achieved in management.

I'd love to see him succeed just because of who he is. There is a hell of a lot about our takeover that leaves me feeling very conflicted, both from a moral and sporting point of view. If we could have a home grown manager succeed who wasn't a big name that would at least partially give me some respite from the reservations I have.

He kept Bournemouth up for a good few seasons, that’s an achievement.

Eddie Howe set the table straight after your Man U game, whining about you losing ASM and Wilson. Don't you think that wasn't part of the plan, to get games called off until the opening of the window?
Or am I being unfairly skeptical?

From my point of view you are being understandably sceptical. However, we were already in the position of not naming a full substitute bench for the Man Utd game and we picked up three more injuries in that game, so his comments were truthful.

But you had covid cases from earlier who should have been over their 7 day isolation period. Since there is no transparency on this it seems like they can all just claim they are still ill even if they are fine / asymptomatic

As in - told not to come in and take new tests to confirm they are fine

That is where my skepticism comes in at least .

I just simply don’t believe there are as many people out with covid as there would need to be. There might be. But it is all shrouded in secrecy

Also consider this has happened to use once already against Brentford - team heading into a game they had earmarked to get some points from with some injuries making this much less likely. And, oops, would you look at that - despite most of the country being extra cautious due to the surge this group of apparent professionals have a number of cases far out of proportion with the country as a whole. It is hard not to be suspicious

And in Brentford’s case it was FOUR days later that they had a pretty much full team and bench out in the cup

    @Joelinton's Right Foot
I know you've come here in peace and fair play for that, but maybe your timing's not quite right. We're all a bit pissed off with this at the moment and you're the one who's going to take the flak. Nothing personal, but no-one's in the mood for a balanced chat. I don't think anything you say, reasonable or otherwise will change people's minds. Don't take this as "piss off", stay as long as you like, but you just might not get the response you were hoping for. <ok>

The 7 day isolation period only applies if they have had a negative test result. Until they have a negative test result the isolation must continue. It isn't optional. A lot of covid cases across the country as a whole are taking a lot longer than 7 days to reach the stage of a negative test result.

Yes this initial reaction is very much like my one at the ref’s first half performance from the Spurs match where I basically claimed corruption

The heat was up and it wasn’t exactly rational

Don't worry. I was under no illusiuons as to changing anyone's mind. I get your frustrations and don't expect them to disappear just cos I start posting. Not looking for any particular response. I enjoy the 'discussion' reasonable or not. However, not here to add to your frustrations so hope it isn't taken in that way!

But given the incredibly lack of transparency there is no way of knowing who had positive or negative tests and when and how much this may being manipulated

I’d love to assume good faith but :

    - this is the real world
    - the club is effectively run by monsters.

Yeah, in fairness, Brentford can piss off back to the Championship too.

Of course, you realise that this gives us Carte Blanche to concoct another Brentford-like Match Day thread, involving Shane Long not quite hitting the target, Oriol Romeu being booked, Fraser Forster playing a blinder, both Armstrongs scoring, not to mention Jake Hesketh, but still only scraping a draw. Fantasy football has never been so exciting!
