I guess it means another RTM thread though. When these games get resurrected, the power will reside within the threads tenfold…

I know that we are allowed to enjoy New Year's Eve (provided, of course that we don't actually get near anyone else), but I would not be at all surprised if further restrictions will be made, from early January onwards, and football (the PL, and everything else) could be postponed, in an ultimately vain attempt to level things up. Having said this, the only way to make things really 'fair' is to postpone the transfer window until after matches can be played again. That should take us to mid-September.
Have a very strong suspicion they’ll be ok for FAC even if they have to play 11 2nd grade players. They won’t want a cup backlog as well. Haven’t looked but whoever they play will be walking thro.
So - 4 players out due to covid. Suspension shouldn’t count and we were hammered by injuries last year, yet made to play vs Man U. It’s a ****ing joke
If the World Cup wasn’t already morally bankrupt enough to warrant cancellation, this might just do it. Things are getting so chaotic now the only fair way forward is to suspend the season, which would mean starting next season late, etc., etc.
What we've missed in all this is that Newcastle are now owned by obscenely rich people, so the provision of 'get-out' clauses, enabling Newcastle to play their games when they are good and ready, will almost certainly be handsomely rewarded in some quarters. I'm not for a moment suggesting that the authorities who sanction postponements are influenced by money, as that would be libellous, but it would be interesting to review e-mails, tweets and Whats App messages, just to confirm beyond reasonable doubt that no pecuniary advantages have occurred.
In Peace! While I can understand your frustration with the postponement, especially after the game that should have been postponed for yourselves last season but wasn't, I am not sure why all of this anger is directed at Newcastle when there have been 17 cancellations now and only 2 of them requested by us. We have been ravaged by injury all season - not quite on the level of Leeds, but close. We had kids on the bench against Man United but went ahead as we had enough fit players. We don't have enough fit players anymore. It isn't playing the system - it is well documented. As for Manquillo getting deliberately booked to get a suspension that is far fetched. If he wanted to make sure he was suspended he wouldn't have left it to the 95th minute and wouldn't have relied on picking the ball up at a throw in, which often goes unpunished. The anger (from all football fans) should be directed at the Premier League who have once again shown they are incompetent by allowing this situation to develop rather than just having a 2-3 week firebreak. There needs to be far more transparency in all of this, for all of the postponement requests - the vast majority of which were not requested by Newcastle!! It is hardly as if we have been avoiding playing games!!
Yeah but you've clearly avoided this one just in time for the Jan transfer window. Nothing to do with Covid at all. NUFC has taken advantage of rules designed for a pandemic because of injuries and suspensions in order to get players fitter and spend big in the transfer window before playing a relegation rival. It's clear. It's deliberate. It's cheating. I hope you get ****ing relegated. Cheats
Can't see why - since these are special circumstances - suspensions can't be erm, suspended for a game or two. After all the punishment will still get served. Or maybe the club in question could pay a fine instead of the player serving the suspension. Couple of hundred thousand for a yellow for example. Utter bullshit that games are getting cancelled so easily now. Doesn't bode well for the future.
I appreciate the PL is mainly at fault but you've clearly manipulated the system to your advantage. You didn't have to shut down your training site and you haven't been ravaged by Covid so quite frankly, no one is going to shed any tears when you're relegated.
Newcastle are exploiting a ****ing stupid loophole. Premier league are an absolute joke. Newcastle are cheating but why would they not if they can get away with it?
I wouldn't have any objection to that rule being brought in. The whole system is a joke and will lead to more issues later in the season with fixture backlog. However, that is not unique to Newcastle and other clubs have been similarly affected. We do have a Covid outbreak at the club so I don't see what else could be done under current rules.
