whats that got to do with 1982.? imagine if you got 13500 at your rugby ground.. no i cant imagine it iswell.
simples, when lansdown goes, your money would be gone then you will get relegated. lose more money then all of a sudden you will be financally back into 82 again
but when he goes, who else will go? thats a big chunk of your money gone. your losing £11million a year and he has been bailing you out. once he is gone (going by his statement it will be you fans that drives him away) who will bail you out??
Some of you need to take a reality check. New manager. High Expectancy. Full of Optimism. Big in coverage in the Local Press. Big support from Brum = Lowest Local support this season. Why? Everyone's sick of the underachievement. If you think I'm wrong just look at the anticipated gate thread. Where did they all go? In these uncertain financial times, the size of the gate is going to determine whether clubs fail or succeed. We desperately need something to rekindle the interest in local professional football. I'm not going to go banging on about....
Sapphire's got it about right. Most Bristolians are totally fed up with local underachievement. Rovers are crap, despite a new look squad in the basement division. City are even worse - tens of millions spent and they're heading south at a rate of knots. Who wants to spend £20-odd plus tickets for your kids, pies/programmes/petrol etc?
cjs....I also read that quote from SL; and Richard Latham, with whom SL was having that conversation, described it as 'a chilling warning'.
cjs you would know about boycotting games and not getting behind your team... "if the players can't be bothered neither can i"...
Firstly I go to every home game; secondly I donât do away games as it is a strain financially for me at the moment. I never used to do that many in a season due to this in any case. Maybe 10 a season at most for me. It is safe to say I wonât be doing that many this season either, probably another 1 or two! Just because I donât do away games Wiz, doesnât mean I boycott Rovers or am ashamed. If I were ashamed, I wouldnât go full stop. One thing I am ashamed about is our Bristolians from over the river who spit at their managers and trash Bars in Nottingham with little kids and families in there. You should be ashamed of yourselves
Two bads don't make a good and two wrongs don't make a right,if we lose one of our cherished football teams, just give it up because we can't produce a Premier team between us,that would be a tremendous loss for at least one half of our City both of a football team and 100 years plus of history that in some case our fathers and fore-fathers helped develop and nuture. Also,we would look spineless in front of the rest of our football competition, once made that decision would be final, terminal, there would be no going back and what if the new arrangement failed, what would we do to replace that, merge with someone else..? We are better to keep our current set-up,two independent teams, one Blue and one Red,if one fails through lack of success, let it die on the vine, the other would then thrive by natural ways and history would and could still be made. I might be out of step but I want the City to remain RED and a separate entity for as long as possible and I enjoy the fact there are "gasheads" across town and long may that be but as I have said before,I'm biased...
Thanks to Wiz for entering into a sensible debate. Whereas I agree that no two wrongs ever make a right, I'm afraid I disagree that discussion about whether amalgamation of the Bristol Clubs would be beneficial. It is not my point at this stage to press for amalgamation, but to open up a good discussion which defines the benefits or down side of such a proposal. Some how we need to re-kindle the general public interest in Bristol football. As I said previously, gate size will become the dominant issue over the next few years. I know one can point out the non achievers, eg. the Sheffields and Leeds, but Bristol is a major city and with larger gates could achieve much more interest than at present. I am passionate about Bristol football and having supported both clubs over many years am not hung up about the dissolution of BOTH clubs to form one representing Bristol.
i go to the home games. i have a season ticket. i go to the majority of away games but financally i cant justify spending £60 plus on petrol and ticket and beer and pie to watch 11 ****s get screwed. cheaper to watch 11 ****s get srewed on the adult channel. and will be more satisfying
i presume your all wumming them on their board. their mods dont like wums so i expect a lot of threads to get deleted.
