I predicted that would happen as a tongue in cheek comment last week. But it wouldn’t actually surprise me if they introduced this new rule.
I can't wait for the media to cry. They've all been desperate to see us go down to the point they've had to keep telling themselves and everyone that we're already down Far from it
Going down is still the most likely outcome for us though. Not definite by any means, but more likely than not.
Nah not a chance mate we'll be out the bottom 3 mid to late Jan. I'm seeing a very different side already that just needs a few bits of quality in key areas. The other clubs down there are worse already.
There is definitely a chance - a very strong chance at that. I agree there have been improvements in our performances, but these haven't been converted into a big enough improvement in results yet. We have a very weak squad and making the necessary improvements to the squad with the right sort of player is not going to be easy this January. Like I said earlier, it isn't impossible, but it is going to be a lot more difficult than some people seem to imagine.
We should stay up now, how we are only 2 points behind i don't know but we are. We are about to spend and we are better than the other 4 teams around us. It's poor if we go down from here.
We are going into this transfer window with genuine hope for the first time in well over a decade and that is very welcome after all the years under Ashley. However, I think this will be our most difficult transfer window to buy well in. The takeover has just happened and all the other clubs will be expecting a Saudi premium for any players they sell us. Despite all the gifs that keep getting posted we don't have billions and billions. Our owners do, but that isn't all in the transfer kitty. Even if it was we're not allowed to spend it. What we do have is millions and millions, far more than we have had before. It needs to be spent wisely though as that spending will sit on our accounts for fair play for the next three years. I would be amazed if any true superstars wanted to join us this season. I'm not even sure that is what we need. We need a modern version of the Brian Kilcline, John Beresford and Paul Bracewell signings. None of those signings shook the football world, but they were exactly what we needed at the time. They aren't easy to get right. Keegan signed as many duds as good signings in his early dealings and I expect it will be the same under Howe. Difference is that under financial fair play rules that could tie up a lot of our allowed budget for a while so there is more pressure to avoid mercanaries and duds. Rather than being poor if we go down from here, it would be a great achievement if we avoided it.
I can understand the frustration of the Southampton fans, and think we would be very similar in their position. However, as all football fans tend to do, they are seeing things out of perspective. There are other clubs who have requested more postponements and missed more games than us. The people they should be angry at is the Premier League who have once again allowed a farce of a situation with no transparency to develop.
