I think there is a lot of difference between diving and going to ground easily. Suarez doesn't dive. A dive is when you go over when there hasn't been any contact what so ever and should be a booking for trying to con the ref (Just like Young earlier in the United v City game earlier - note it wasn't even mentioned by the commentators though because he's English?)

Suarez though, just goes down easily when he has been touched. I think he is obviously used to getting free kicks in Holland when defenders get too close and are overly physical with him, but that's not the way the games are reffed in England and rightly so. I think ones he gets used to this he'll try and stay up a bit more knowing that he won't get the free kicks.

Fair point, Suarez is by no means the only player in football who dives, but that doesn't make it right, and I do think he is currently the worst in the Premier League for pretending to be hurt. It's just a sore point with me as I think it's cheating. This euphemism "goes down easily" is rubbish. "Goes down deliberately" would be more accurate. I'm a Wolves fan, and if I saw Wolves players diving I would call them cheats as well.

if fergie says he dives then it must be true - he never tells an untruth - he should keep an eye on ashley young if he wants to see real diving.

how do you know that behind the scenes mourinho and ferguson were trying to get drogba and ronaldo to stop diving - they obviously didn't try very hard or impose sanctions on their player - how could they when they were defending the player in the media - the players would have called mourinho/ferguson lying hypocrites if the told them in private to stop diving

Ferguson said 'the lad Suarez dives all over the place', when actually in the United match there was probably only one instance where he went down when he could have stayed on his feet. It doesn't seem like he was referring to the game so much as just wanting to get that comment out there for the sake of it.

But yesterday it was sometimes ridiculous how many times he got barged, pulled and pushed without a free kick being given. Leon Barnett got away with all sorts because the referee was happy to wave everything off. It was probably a case of "If I don't give anything, he'll stop going to ground", but you can't stop going to ground if you're actually knocked to it can you?

United fans will claim Fergie's comment wont have influenced the ref or the opposition yesterday, but surprisingly after he said it there was no response as there has been to Evra's racism accusation.
All in all Saurez is public enemy number one at the moment and his past is more remembered than the present and its up to him and Kenny try and turn that around, but as saurezlfc says the ref gave him nothing yesterday even when it was blatently obvious he had been fouled, the Evra thing is still hanging over his head and this and the "diving all over the place" comment will folow him around for the rest of his time at LFC irrespective of if hes innocent of racism and not the only player in the league that goes down to easily when minimum contact is made.

I agree. It's far easier to prove that he did use racist language than it is to prove he didn't. If they find footage of it, he's guilty. If they don't (which they haven't) and they throw the case out, then most people will just think he got away with it. Unless they were filming his mouth for 90 minutes, he can't be totally acquitted of it. People will just say 'oh well he'll have said it when they weren't filming him'. And yet if he truly said it 'ten times', you'd think they'd find at least one instance of it...

SEE MY POST ON 17/10/2011 - SUAREZ Vs EVRA

i can't believe no-one has mentioned what sir alex said on motd - said it was difficult for the referee as "the lad suarez was diving all over the place" - ferguson/evra trying to destroy liverpools most dangerous player - i know alex ferguson does not usually mention another player by name unless he has some ulterior motive - watched the game in full again and the only dive i found was by ashley young when he kicked the ball past lucas and then tried to run in to lucas - lucas got out of the way but young still managed to fall over - evras playacting was incredible when suarez fouled him - maybe evra was so embarrassed by his own reaction to the foul that he has to make up this nonsense

I cant get my head around Kenny not retaliating to Ferguson singling out Saurez,Ferguson has had many digs at LFC and always got away with it.
Hand Signalgate with co-conspiritor Fat Sam,Everton are a big club(he then played his reserves and youth team against them in an FA Cup semi to prove his point),His annual Anfield aside "Its hell here for referees" is always good for a laugh, him praising the unfurling of the 19 banner during a match at Anfield which could have caused a riot in the Anny Rd end.

Apart from Rafa LFC have been slow in reciprocating in recent years

Ferguson knew exactly what he was doing when he made those comments and the effects of them were manifested on Saturday. However, it is likely to be one of the last times that he gets away with it. Now he's facing a new challenge from City and Mancini. They are adopting a totally different stances that he cannot manipulate to his own ends - they are not listening!

Suarez will come through this and Refs will start to give him the benefit of the doubt again in a few weeks.

Let's hope that this Evra thing is cleared up this week.

dalglish did come out and said it was not suarez' integrity on the field that should be questioned - probably doesn't want to get involved in tit-for-tat nonsense with slur alchie

Sorry to go slightly against the grain here lads but from my vantage point on Saturday (and I appreciate it's difficult to see from the stand exactly how much contact is made) I was thouroughly pissed off with Suarez by the end of the match and trust me when I say I wasn't the only one. Yes he was unlucky not to score but whether it's called "going down easy", diving or "going down deliberately" it is a joke how often he ended up on the floor and didn't even have the bollox to get off his arse and chase the ball. If he doesn't fancy putting his body on the line then Kenny needs to start throwing a boot or two at his head.

Yes he got lumps kicked out of him but didn't Hunt, Keegan, Dalglish, Rush, Fowler et al? Any striker worth a place in a Red shirt should be willing to take a bit of punishment. His constant crying and moaning was a distraction both to him and his team. He's a class act with the potential to be the difference between us being a good team and a great team but spending more time on his arse than his feet is absolutely **** all use to us.

Obviously Fergies quote was going to influence the men in charge on Saturday so if he'd used his brain he would've used this game to shove those words back down Fergies throat by staying on his feet at every opportunity...instead he gave every ref in the land an excuse now to give him no protection whatsoever. Poor show IMO

Its down to Kenny and Clarkey to get that part of his game put to bed,he needs to be told straight his actions are an embarrassment,on the flipside Kenny does have to speak up if referees let Saurez's rep prevent him getting decisions when they're nailed on fouls.

I accept he can't say it on camera but I do hope he beats this out of him and quickly yeah. The simple fact is mate if he'd stayed on his feet the 6 or 7 times he could have on Saturday the times he was actually swiped he'd have been much more likely to get free kicks.

He's a genius of a player but as I say his genius isn't being utilised while he's sitting on the floor waving his hands around. Get up...get on with it <ok>

I agree Billy, everyone knows the great skills he posesses but hes inadvertantly become public enemy number 1 thanks to his play-acting,SAF's comment never helped and Evra's accusation will have an impact unltil and unless its proven untrue.

SAFs comments were designed to do exactly that but I really think Kenny should have seen this coming and given Suarez specific instructions to stay on his feet as much as physically possible to get one over on Fergie. Missed a trick there and I think Suarez will get next to nothing free kick wise now for a few games.

Anyway I've said my piece I was pretty pissed off about it Saturday night to be honest hence why I saved my rant until tonight so it was a bit more measured and devoid of words such as, whingeing, crying, ****, tosser and heskey <laugh>
