Think that's a Hunstman. I've seen Tarantulas in California, but the biggest spider I've ever seen was a Golden orb Spider in Mexico when I was staying in this tree house place. Thing was ****ing huge and was just hanging there in the corner of the room. I would have moved it but I was too **** scared to go anywhere near it lol. Same same mate, not a big fan of Spiders
Some orb spiders can be quite pretty, supposedly we have golden orb spiders here (not sure if same as you saw, probably different species with same name)! We get lots of the yellow garden orb spiders here, only 2 or 3 inch leg span so not huge, but one of the bigger ones we get. Bright yellow and black and make pretty webs with "writing" across the middle. The only problem with them is they all seem to build their webs across the trails I've cut through the backyard at the new place. I'm having to cut a web down every hundred feet. I'm bracing myself for an invasion of Joro spiders that sound pretty similar in size/apperance... Apparently spreading across the SE rapidly and have been spotted in the county so only a matter of time before I'm inundated with them. Biggest spiders I've seen round here are the fishing spiders, probably 4 inches long and a boring brown or grey colour.
