The Dreikönigssaal which is an integral part of the Cologne cathedral (separated from the part where Mass will be celebrated later) is to be used as a vaccination centre for the period over Christmas - you can now be vaccinated on consecrated ground This must be the equivalent of the holy hand grenade in Monty Python.
Morning all. A heady 16°C outside and that is before the sun has broken through the cloud. Wanted a sprig of holly to go in the Christmas pudding, and last year there was plenty with berries, but this year almost none. Lots of bushes alongside the lanes, but the hedge cutters from the council chop them back before the berries have a chance to form. Still going off the beaten track I have found a piece so all is well. Have a good day all.
Happy Christmas morning to you, although the day will be drawing to a close for NZ. This year we are able to join with our family out here, something that was denied last year. The ruling then was a maximum of six people meeting up, and if we had gone it would have been seven. Certainly we would have been able to do it as our daughter's house is even more remote than this one, but we have all stuck to the rules. Enjoy your day however you will spend it, and a thank you to those who have to work on our behalf.
Have a good one.... We had the family fracas including four little grandkids last night at our flat ... . and have enjoyed a peaceful and enjoyable menage a deux today......
Morning all. Very mild, but rather damp. Christmas should have snow looking at all the cards, but certainly none here. Came across this that looks far more like it should be.
That’s beautiful, ofh. The quick-thinking choices of target in a snowball fight are evident, and it becomes so real. Wonderful.
Been on the move today so didn't have time to update you on the weather here. Damp, grey , yet mild, although on the way home this afternoon there was a downpour of biblical proportions. Had to go to the lab to book a blood test for Mme. and there was a queue outside the portacabin in the car park waiting to get their covid tests. Sounds like a recent test will no longer be enough to get you into a bar, restaurant or football stadium shortly, only all three vaccinations will be accepted. Might find out this evening if there will be other measures brought in to combat the virus. Having my certificate to say I have been done I still don't feel much like sitting in a cold stadium on a Saturday evening, so Chateauroux will be watched via electronic means.
Morning all. Damp and dark when I left home at 8.30 am to take Mme to have her blood test. Often after such an event we will go for a coffee and pastry, no food or drink allowed before the test, but decided to come straight home for the same thing. Despite it being so dark the council hedge cutter was going along the road, with warning signs and flashing lights. There seems to be a battle between the trees that grow up and the telephone wires that in a strong wind are battered down by the branches. Once down they hang there waiting for months for the telecoms people to come and rehang them. One length of road has had new poles fitted for maybe 2 kms. Shortly after the poles were installed the cables were put underground as part of the fibre works. One day someone will realise that they have a large number of poles they could reclaim. Have a good day one and all.
Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday dear Frenchie... Happy birthday to you!
Good day all. Damp, miserable, but very mild out there. Don't like missing games, but as it turned out yesterday cannot say I am too sorry. The funfair set up in town the week before Christmas and is remaining there until 2nd January. It seems to be very popular from midday until I don't know what time it shuts down at night. It is laid out across a large open space that normally is occupied by pétanque games that draw some supporters when they can get up from the bar across the road. Not all is lost for the players though, they move indoors to the boulodrome, a council run facility, and you can watch endless hours of the game on TV. Good to watch, though discussions about the next shot can go on a bit. Have a good day everyone.
Good day everyone. Brighter, dry and 16°C so much better. Been watching a French TV programme where they have been showing many of the traditional foods that are prepared for New Year celebrations. Some of the ingredients would not go down too well with some, but the quantity of wine that goes into a dish can be very impressive. The menus for vast New Year Eve dinners are missing from the restaurants, usually followed by dancing into the early hours. Not sure I would do much dancing after a dozen courses. Enjoy your day.
