    Some are probably in denial still that we are the richest club in the world. I know of one Mackem who is adamant that the Saudi's took us over just to prank us. :emoticon-0136-giggl

    Nee botha, Albert, but you still have to see what money the Saudis are prepared to put in. The point being that you're NOT the richest club in the world, rather the club with the richest owners. I recall something similar when Fat Mike took over (billionaire, money to burn, only way is up, etc). I suspect they are getting their chequebooks ready as I write, but this notion that they're inevitably going to spunk gazillions is a bit naive, frankly. I am sure they are aware of the old adage that if you want to make a small fortune, take a large fortune and buy a football club.

    Whatever. I shall, as you say, continue to take the piss and will be down on my knees praying that you buy Harry Maguire...

    Ha! Remember that no matter how much you can spend, City, Chelski and Liverpool are already where you want to be. Man U and Arsenal will never be too far behind, either. You'll be the next PSG when you actually win something with them as competition, so I'd think Leicester, Spurs and West Ham are more your target level for the next year or two. Assuming you avoid the drop, of course.

    Better than where we'll be, I admit. If we can get out of L1 this season then it'll be another few years of consolidation before we can think about the Prem. And as long as we avoid the mistakes of the past and become a properly run club I can live with that.
