Sorry for banging on, but I feel compelled to further connect the dots (edit)...I actually posted before I read Dier Hard's response. (edit)

One of the main beneficiaries to Spurs losing four points in two days to demonstrably incorrect officiating is Man U, who my post https://www.not606.com/posts/15419450/ demonstrated have benefitted the most by far from pen decisions over the past nine years, and who are perhaps not coincidentally the most popular club in the PL.

And the average BBC reading fan has the impression that over the past few days, Spurs have been getting the rub of the green.

Back in the 1980s a mate used to work for a house removal firm specialising in those moving to Europe.
He used to go on the vans with a driver and the furniture.
He told me that one time he was in Callais and the driver said he was hungry but "didn't want foreign **** ... fancy a Chinese?"
    <laugh>

I mention this cos Danny Murphy refused to join Spurs after he left Liverpool. He said that he wanted to play for an English Manager after his experiences at Liverpool.
The following season he joined Spurs...managed by that well known English man Martin Jol <laugh>

Moral...don't think too deeply about anything Murphy says

He did his job, to be fair. Good positioning, correct decision.
Then Atkinson ****ed it up by forgetting what year it was and ballsing up drawing a line.

Conte is married to playing five at the back and we didn't need it when you were down to 10 men.
Should've made an attacking change at the break when he removed Reguilon.
Push Davies to left-back, which is his usual position and pack the midfield or bring on Moura.

And in turn the media influence the decisions on the pitch.

The media wanted Leicester to win the title, so they got loads of decisions/penalties by Vardy dives.
Maybe Kane was adjudged offside because he deserved to be sent off against 'pool, and this is payback.
Why does Sterling win so many penalties? He's the darling of the media( hence being put forward for SPOTY )

It was Danny flippin' Murphy , another in the line of ex spurs players who hate us , form an orderly queue Sourness,Redknapp, Cundy, Campbell ,Murphy and to a degree O'Hara although he will say anything the media want as long as the money keeps coming in

They have "balance" by picking ex-Spurs players that have basically all flopped at WHL.
Amazon went with Hoddle as the co-commentator yesterday, which was an exception.
Not sure how Benali (Saints legend) and Holland (ex-Arsenal & West Ham) was thought up, though.

Quite often I'm not sure about Hoddle , many times I've wondered what his agenda has been about our club , I thought we had an fair pundit when Dawson joined the Sky team but he must have failed his audition

I don't think media influence on-pitch decisions but they influence the fan's perceptions of them. No one here ever talks about Norwich, Brentford, Brighton, Burnley etc potentially getting a dodgy decision in their favour. Why? Because the media frankly doesn't give a **** about them and therefore fans not of those clubs won't take any notice as to whether they've benefited from anything or not. Yet the big clubs constantly spoke about on TV/ Paper/ Social Media draws attention from rival fans. Fans of teams like ours also have a vested interest in our competitive rivals so we also overly scrutinise them.

Calling Sterling the darling of the media is quite bizarre though, the guy's character has been attacked many times and he's even been the victim of borderline racism by certain outlets. He's far from a media darling.

That's probably why he failed his audition! <laugh>

They may not pay people to hold certain opinions, but you won't be there if you don't have them.

I said this yesterday, he was ideally placed. The reason he didn’t raise his flag is quite simple - because Kane was not offside and that should have been the overriding factor.

Well if the rules actually had a concept like Umpire's call as in Cricket, you would be right. But currently the VAR protocol requires line calls and offsides to be decided by the screenshot only.

They even got that wrong, though.
Drew the lines from Kane's shoulder, when it should be his armpit and some of Bednarek's foot.

Sky milking it, but have it anyway:

Ref clearly doesn't blow for the foul on the 2nd one until the ball's in the net, if the sound's accurate.

No .Jim did not have 3 goals disallowed in Portugal. But,without doubt, the ref robbed Spurs with offside decisions. The second leg.......WOW. Spurs let in an ealy goal to make it 4-1 to Benfica before Spurs threw everything at them and could only get 2 goals in reply. Spurs were over them until the end,but it was not enough! I can still see Mo Norman missing a third goal by using his wrong foot and the ball just missing the goal. I think Spurs may have won the final because Real had "shot their bolts!" But we did become the first British winners of a European tournament next season by beating Atletico Madrid 5-1. (If only!)

I'll always remember the first two legs of 1961-2 European Cup. We played in Poland the first leg and got beat 4-2.(4-0 down!). The British press gave us hell! In the return, fans dressed up as Angels and circled the pitch with their placards. We went on to beat Gornik 8-1 with the crowd singing their hearts out with "Glory,Glory.....!"
Bobby Smith might have helped a lot by scaring their goalie to death!!!!!? Funny. The best goal was scored by Gornik (Pohl). AHHH! Memories.

Those were the days when players were evenly spread out until the likes of United and City started buying everyones best players and managers like Pep thinking how fantastic he is,trophy wise!

Yes. Wonderful memories. Those days were so much nicer. None of the hatred so many fans have for each other now, probably because everyone supported their nearest team so rivalry was just friendly, no plastic stuff as they call it & songs & chants were good humoured, funny, no obscenities that I recall. I especially loved the Gornik night too with the emergence of 'The Angels' (whoever heard of dirty Lilywhites) is the placard I remember as we had been pilloried in the press for the away effort. All the games were exciting & packed to the rafters (no elf & safety then) but my undying memory is of the magical atmosphere created with the excitement & singing of Glory Glory & our Double heroes led by Danny boy doing us proud. As you said Smithy, ah memories......
