Told you weeks ago that the thing is now endemic.
And it seems the Botswana mutation will be the one that allows nature to
take its course (as it always does) and trigger "herd immunity" .

And as with influenza, there will be no 'halting' vaccine for a small
at risk minority, and they will have to get medical treatment annually.

"Or should we be very worried that these numbers are very high and will get a lot higher if we do little -"

    Basic arithmetic : P = X * Y.
If you double X and half Y, you still get P.

At the moment X is very high, and Y seems to be far lower than for the other mutations.
The UK stats now seem to be corroborating those first gathered in
South Africa (and their scientific community should be duly acknowledged) .

"and which point COVID is likely to cause a lot of problems for us we may struggle to cope with?"

The NHS is forever in a winter state of "may struggle to cope with" ,
because it has long been unfit for purpose.

Due to many years of criminal under-funding through several administrations - but never more so than the last decade as it was being prepared for handover to the US health Insurers...

No pay raise, but Dominic Rabb dropped off a box of Celebrations, so that's fine

See also: it;s terrible that food banks are necessary due to our governance

Now would be a really bad time to bring up David Lammy being interviewed on the pitch during Ledders' testimonial and shouting "Yiddos" for the crowd, wouldn't it?

May seem like a nothing story, and maybe, just maybe, the Met officers who removed the banner were justified in their actions. (Rather than removing and initially handing it back with instructions not to put it up again).

However, 'destruction of the banner' within a few days is not policy and is 1) either an abuse of Power or 2) suggests an officer has lost (personally appropriated?) it

In the current climate and with increasing evidence of a politically-motivated police force in the capital, this will do nothing to improve the Mets fast-diminishing reputation. That's if they care...

I seem to recall posting about it being seized, where the officers didn't give a reason for seizing it (which they are supposed to do) and when he asked for it back due to the lack of reason was told to "**** off"

Yes, that's about it. They (arguably) had a power to ask for it to be taken down under the Public Order Act (very tenuous) or in the interests of Public Safety interfering with visibility near a junction (equally dodgy). They only had power to remove if he refused. They didn't give him that chance, so immediately were in breach. Destroying the banner - if that is true - would be Theft and I hope he sues the Met.

For all the good work undertaken by Police Officers every minute of the day across the country, the Organisations themselves and many of their employees are institutionally a) corrupt and b) racist

The Met in particular, for many years, although especially in the last 5 or so is little more than a political weapon.

And let's just say, (like Brian's missus), I should know...
