Yeah I thought he was ranked number 1 which is why I was so shocked

Also I am not sure the refereeing performance can be boiled down as simply as “a few inconsistent fouls / bookings vs two wrongly disallowed goals”

For starters - it was one wrongly disallowed goal. You can’t shove a goalkeeper so he drops the ball. You never have been able to. The spurs player had turned away from the ball and made no attempt at playing it. He knew exactly what he was doing

Also the display in the first hour comes to more than just inconsistencies. He kept killing our momentum in that first half as spurs kept breaking up play by throwing themselves over. Except when he tried to keep momentum when it didn’t exist. And then there is the incorrect first yellow that ultimately saw us down to 10.

Sure at a headline level spurs can be more aggrieved - if they just watched highlights

Salisu was warned literally minutes before he was booked. He wasn't booked just for that foul.

No complaints about the performance yesterday other than Forster's kicking and Perraud's distribution sometimes going awry. All in all, it was a draw that felt like a win. Yann Valery was Man of the Match for us and merited the call up to the sqaud. You wonder if Salisu had not gone off, whether we would have secured the other two points.

The results this Christmas seem pivitol. I think Burnley's position is false given the fact they have somany games in hand but the likes of Norwich , Newcastle and Watford look to have started to fall behind the rest of the pack. Saints can now start looking upwards in the table and I feel that we will now start putting in some performances and picking up points. Those who called for Ralph's head now look pretty silly.

Franky, those calling for Ralph’s head have looked pretty silly for a while. Over the past ten transfer windows, we are 20th for net spend. I just don’t know what people expect the guy to be able to do. The fact we are where we are speaks volumes for him tbh..

It would be interesting to see Tino further forward BUT it means there’s less space to run forward into and can mean he ends up marked more and with his back to the goal more. Gareth Bale took a long time to adjust to the move forward at Spuds for that reason

I think he’s a good RB when he’s wide but isn’t aware as he needs to be and loses players in the area. Something he needs to learn wherever he plays

Totally agree with your bit about KWP. Look at yesterday; basically first game at RB & a close motm performance.

Yeah, I don't think I get all the presumptions that moving him forwards (and in front of KWP) is somehow a given that it's a good plan. Southgate tried exactly this with (the similarly gifted) Alexander-Arnold, and it really, really didn't work (and he got castigated for it).

That I agree with. He also remonstrated with Taylor a bit before & I think he nearly went in book then, although that would have been very harsh. However, IMO that definitely marked his card.

Well I have to disagree. I watched the entire match not 'highlights' and think they've definitely more right to be aggrieved and didn't see any indication of bias towards any particular team.

I reckon Frasers cock up would have been given if the whistle hadn't gone before crossing the line. Not a foul in the slightest imo.

Yep, if you get a warning you need to keep a low profile not commit a foul 2 minutes later!

And after he was booked went in for the world's most mental slide tackle, that he just got away with. It wasn't his finest game, but he'll know that, Ralph knows that. He'll hopefully learn.

We'd all be fuming if we had a goal disallowed for that.

Yeah, was one of those that if the ref hadn't given a foul, VAR wouldn't have disallowed it.

Yeah, I gasped when I saw that lunge! Never mind a second yellow, if he made any sort of contact with that lunge he would have got a straight red and a 3 game ban.

That was the moment that I thought "he needs to get hooked at half time". Sadly he didn't make it that far.

Yep you’re right but you do come across as a bit all knowing. Like one poster said, Spud player had his back to FF so it was always a strong possibility of being disallowed & that’s what happened. Definitely a bit soft but if happened other way I would have just shrugged shoulders & said goalies are too protected & accepted.

Don't think VAR looked - because the whistle went before the ball crossed the line then there was no goal to review. That's what I mean by had he blown it later and them get involved then I think it'd have been given.

As a general Not606 rule, Tom and me agreeing is such a rarity that we're almost certainly right <whistle>

I don't think he would have been hooked but at least Ralph could have words with him. After all, he didn't bring on Simeu, instead trusted Valery to do the job.
