The depth we have in those positions makes it almost impossible for him to get in the England squad without injuries. From our perspective, I seem to remember that it was documented when he left that the add-ons were largely goals related so we are due a fee when he scores 10, 15 and 20 goals along with a substantial fee if he signs a new contract. As good as he's been, he's only scored 12 (assuming only PL goals count) so we need him to trigger the remaining add ons before he leaves as the sell-on fee would be much smaller in comparison. To put it into perspective, if he triggers all the remaining add-ons it would give us an extra £6m (I think the add on for 10 goals was about £1m).
Competition in the England squad is fierce for his position, but I think he's more deserving of a place in the national set-up than a certain former Tiger who somehow manages to still get in the team.
Well, he can move quicker than syrup falling out of a jar so he's already better than Maguire at centre-half.
I've watched Jarrod Bowen right from when he first joined us, and he rarely has a poor game. He is a coach's dream, consistent performer and he seems to avoid injury. There is no doubt he has got even better playing at a higher level, and he is the type of player Southgate likes, always gives 100%.
Everyone was saying he'd get rested against Watford because he'd played twice in a week so no one was looking at him for FPL, but I confidently brought him in because he's so fit and reliable as you say.
So little?? Up to £25m isn't little for a championship player.... More than Wolves paid for Traore....
Not sure Maguire's done that much wrong for England? Certainly the fact that Jarrod seems to offer something different may give him a chance, despite the competition in that position.
He's developed Manure petulentality.... a but I play for the biggest club in the world persona.... and to be frank others in the top division make him look poor...IMO
Maguire was brilliant for us and England definitely loom better when he plays. Bowen will play for England before long, regardless of how many other great payers we have in the same position.
Aye, players move on. It's part of life's rich tapestry, the warp and weft of life. It's just a shame so many threads get bogged down in puns...
Dear Mr Southgate, When picking your next squad, might be an idea to keep this in mind... Sancho G/A 2 Grealish G/A 6 Saka G/A 11 Smith-Rowe G/A 11 Sterling G/A 12 Foden G/A 13 Bowen G/A 16
I love Bowen and hope he gets a callup, but the exaggerated narrative around England callups is incredibly tiresome. We don't have to pretend that Foden, Grealish etc are all crap. They're brilliant players and we have a wealth of them in the country currently. It's less than a year ago that Grealish was everyone's favourite and Southgate was getting **** for not putting him in enough. Now he's an established England player people get bored and say they want someone else, and Southgate's a prick for not picking them...
