I doubt it. It would make it far more difficult for defenders to 'step up', it would need to be 2 or even 3 steps up.
I was surprised we started with Hojbjerg rather than Ndombele. The three in midfield against Liverpool did fine.
I simply cannot believe those 2 goals were ruled out. Flipping unbelievable. We still can't break down teams that park the bus. At least we didn't lose but as far as I'm concerned, this should have been a win but a larger debate is needed on the standards of officiating.
No it wouldn't. The atracker would always be a metre further forward and an extra cm would make him offside
Going to have to agree to differ on that one. You would get a few (the best) like you say further forward, then the average, who now get caught offside would no longer and a few others who would be offside all the time whatever the law is.
He’ll be as fit as a fiddle for whenever Argentina next play though. Hopefully by then he’ll be in another club team’s shirt with a bit of luck.
The new Darren Anderton. Getting out of bed is a very dangerous activity. GLC needs some specialist instruction.
Great player, just needs to be played in his ‘natural’ position and then he’d be fit all the time and score and assist loads
He (Doherty) really didn't. Had acres of space but apart from one decent ball into the box made no use if it whatsoever. Also had two good chances and either fluffed his lines or made the wrong option to pass rather than shoot. His borrowed time has well and truly run out for me.
What VAR should really have done is sent off Kane against Liverpool then there'd have been no worries about him being offside (or not) against Soton Incompetent VAR usage benefitted you big time by letting you have Kane for three more games than you should have had him for. Be grateful
You're missing the point which is that offside decisions would be clear-cut and not the clusterfuck we saw today.
to think we passed on bruno fernades for this living-stealing clown. Poch's judgement was a bit suspect towards the end
Now that’s an understatement! Poch chose to wait a whole year for Ndombele too… and that’s forgetting the fact he rejected the opportunity to sign Tielemans in the meantime
I suppose a positive spin on today is that we’re actually pissed off we drew. If Nuno were still in charge we’d probably be celebrating a point under him.
It wasn't really a draw though was it? The pundits and a fair number of Saints fans thought that Southampton got away with it today; one even proposed Martin Atkinson as their MOTM
Oh they absolutely did, no doubting that. But had Nuno been in the dugout it would’ve probably been a battering from Saints with us clinging onto the point.
