We have tickets but are undecided as to whether we should go. I am not sure that I want to risk my life to save the bacon of a weak and cowardly Prime Minister. I am astonished that anyone takes any notice of him anymore. I wonder how many people attending this match will end up with covid?

Not quite sure that the away win was for nowt. Pretty sure we got three very valuable points for it, regardless of what happens today.

If anything it's the opposite that we can afford to get nothing here because of Sunday's result.

Exactly. I'm totally relaxed about today. If we win I'll be buzzing of course but a loss won't have me despairing or despondent.

Depends on the nature of any loss tbh. I’d love us to win, and be very happy with a point, as I’m keen on doing the Newcastle thread!

There you are St. L, the forum virologist has answered your question.

We're not going to any events until we've both had our boosters. That'll be two weeks after Mrs Jab gets hers on the 18th, had mine on the 26th. Not that there's much going on over here in the Netherlands. Bars and restaurants shut apart from takeaway and no public at sports venues.

Still unable to make any plans for a visit to see family and get to two or three games. Would have liked to have gone to today's game and Newcastle Sunday. Nothing I have control over can only make sure the beer is cool and have a slice of turkey and ham pie ready for half time.

A couple of articles on Twitter about saying that KWP and Bed are on a 5 yellow card tightrope, as this is Matchday 20, I don't think it applies. They seem to think it is down to the amount of games actually played?

No idea what the rule actually is. If it is officially written as match day 20 then I guess they are fine ?

So it is not just your judgement as a referee that is doubtful but you mistaken estimation of risk with this pandemic.

I'm not a virologist either, but as this is a football forum, how about some dodgy statistical analysis?

According to the ONS, the current rate of infection in England is one in 45, so in a full stadium that would be 689 infectious people. R rate is up to 1.2, but not all of the infections passed on by our 689 plague carriers will happen at the match. Let's say one sixth of 1.2 - i.e. 0.2. So based on that, 138 people will come away with Covid from the match. Whether that is "not many" or not is a matter of personal opinion. Maybe a one in ten chance of causing a hospital admission.

At the end of the day everyone has to be double jabbed or test negative. Chances of getting covid from a football match are relatively slim.

It's based on the number of matches played, not the number of matchweeks.

If every side had played their full 19 matches, then yes we would all be past the 19 game cut off. But as it is, only four sides are. Our cut off comes after today. Burnley's cut-off might not be until about March.

Anyone who feels unsafe about going to the match shouldn't take the chance, it's not something that others should try to persuade them to do. We are at a stage now where everyone has had the opportunity to be jabbed so the vulnerable will have to make decisions based on their own circumstances. I've had all three jabs and therefore feel relatively safe about going today. At some point people have to be allowed go out and after being vaccinated, I feel we are at that point now.

Going to the match is a matter of choice based on personal circumstances. If I had a ticket I would go...after all I went to a full Mayflower Theatre recently. Staying in the bowl and not the concourse should reduce yr chances of getting it...and wear a mask in the concourse at least.
I am expecting infections to go up after the New Year...especially in the young. No doubt the scientists will be interested in the relative infection/hospitalization rates in the 4 home countries...like an experiment they would have loved to devise (but wouldn’t be allowed to).
Have to say that there are other things to consider when making such decisions....we can’t go on hiding. Lockdowns have hidden costs too...personally I applaud the decision and hope it comes off.
