Mixing only in family groups, with sensible precautions over Christmas...no-one would have objected.

30% of those people were admitted for something other than COVID but tested positive. No apparent surge in need for intensive care yet. Also the younger people with families are being discharged from hospital much earlier than in previous waves. Problems persist with getting older/vulnerable patients discharged with care packages in place - like always - though they don’t need a hospital bed. The biggest challenge continues to be staffing because of self isolation.

Surely nearly everyone eligible for a booster has had one by now, if they want one?

Apparently thousands of Scots are heading south of the border for Hogmanay due to lighter restrictions in England....I flew down this morning and the airport at Glasgow was rammed (not that I'm down here to party....although I'll be at Ashton Gate tomorrow)

Covid cases are through the roof at home, highest daily total since pandemic began. Over 3000 NHS staff off either isolating or ill. A bit of sense tells you that something needs to change to return to normality, but me and my wife both know people who are in a bad way, ventilated in hospital, so we're both wary of mixing in large groups even though we're triple jagged.
