Are we all hoping that Saint Maximin gets a knock, to keep him out of our game? Cracking player and great finish just now.
If we let Shelvey run at us on Sunday, like Utd just let him do, you just know he will score. A lot of sloppy passing from both sides so far.
Utd have put in some dire performances in recent times. And this is right bang up there. Awful. (Even if you do half expect them to win anyway.)
An example of how to absolutely not play 4-2-2-2. Including crowbarring in a lazy attacking midfielder who is used to a free role and a striker into the two attacking midfield positions And having two bang average full backs (vital roles in such a narrow formation)
Essentially this is a perfect example of why bringing in five subs must be resisted. Maguire, Rashford, Fred and McTominay all deserve to be hooked at HT (you could make a case for others too). And unless you've seen the teamsheet, you'd probably have no idea that Greenwood was even on the pitch, given how anonymous he has been. But sadly for Utd, despite all their millions sat on their bench, they can only use three of them. Like it should be.
On this performance, I would rather play Man Utd than Newcastle on Sunday. Man U are awful. Newcastle aren’t great but they are working hard and have Saint Maximin. Wilson off injured, so might miss Sunday.
Man Utd looking like an awful team. Really at odds with each other and no cohesion. Looking for fouls and refereeing decisions expecting everything and trying for nothing.
Basically the manager has made the wrong team selection like Klopp did in the cup the other night against Leicester Klopp was able to fix it because there were 5 subs. So he made 3 at half time. It is what Ragnick would really want/need to do here but can’t He’s picked the complete wrong front 4 and could do with changing at least two if not three
My dad is insisting that this is Newcastle’s “cup final” and they don’t charge around and press like this against anyone else I’m not so sure. I think it is more than Man United are truly abysmal and look like they have never met each other before tonight Maybe it is a bit of both
Interesting Rangnick uses that same really high line we do to defend attacking free kicks. United don’t seem to quite know how to do it as well yet.
Really hope everton have to play their match against Newcastle this week. Because if so Newcastle are going to be knackered by Sunday The PL needs to start putting their foot down
Another concern is I think Man United are due to play Burnley soon. On this showing that is more unexpected points going to the teams at the bottom around us
