You're assuming that Balotelli would have stuck the chance away for certain. He probably would, but there are no guarantees.

And try asking any Chelsea fans how in control of the match we were when we beat then 3-1 at OT. Or for that matter ask any Liverpool fan how well Stoke controlled the game when they beat Liverpool 1-0. The scoreline doesn't always reflect the balance of the match or who is in control.

We probably should have parked the bus and tried to counter attack, but we didn't. We attacked and took the game to City, as we did in the first half. But in doing so we left gaps at the back and conceded. It's a perennial problem of ours, we are just too unwilling to play negative park the bus football even when we are a goal behind and a man down. And ultimately the only tangible difference between a 1-0 loss and a 6-1 loss is the impact on the players - at least this way there is no hiding from the result.

But then if you think City "bossed" the first half you are probably too simple to understand a concept like this.

Taking the game to City was probably the mistake. It's hard for most teams to live with them when they're on their game (like they were today). It's nigh on impossible to do it with 10 men.

United maybe thought they had the quality to do it. The facts show otherwise.

lets say mario scores and evans stays on the pitch.

2-0 city with the entire second half to go basically.

11 v 11........Man Utd @ OT........... we specialise in that sort of thing, we could of easily turned it around.

Instead we have 1-0 city and 10 men United. You all saw what happened.

I agree. I can only assume that cos we were at home and had been competing well up until then that we just decided **** it, let's go for it. It's not the first time - we did it in 99 after Butt got sent off and Chelsea beat us 5-0 and for the last few mins of the 4-1 against Liverpool. It's like we think goals we score when we only have ten men are somehow worth more than the goals we concede when we only have ten men <doh>

Well remember the season is a sprint not a marathon, and it is always a game of two halves.

Jumpers for goalposts? Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous <ok>

Well the last three goals were in injury time and it looked like teh United defence were just too shell-shocked to function. If the result had been 1:3 after going down to 10 men I doubt there would have been such a strong reaction from people.

It's hardly epoc-changing in and of, itself but maybe we are seeing Man City emerging as a real force in English football again... I can't say I've seen much of them but they certainly looked like a team and not a bunch of 'overpaid individuals'.

    Sounds good to me.

If City **** up this season they will be complete and utter failures.

Another brick for the road ;)

Power shift hahahaha, sounds like a new type of transmission.

it was one game, media in its usual frenzy but by god that beating is killing you more than the players themselves OP
