I really hope you prevail with both bets Pilgrim. Certainly SR appears well handicapped but i fear it’s a big ask first time out tomorrow in likely very easy ground. I saw an interview with Williams on ATR and he was very clear that he’d liked to have got a run in beforehand and this wasnt the be all and end all for SR this season. Best of luck
Thank you very much. I don't know if the horse didn't run because he wasn't fit or because they couldn't find a suitable race for him (maybe the lack of rain). I think that if he does well tomorrow (even if he doesn't win) he can go for the Grand National. Anyway, he's not my biggest hope for April, if he wins tomorrow it's enough for me. I see The Big Dog as very dangerous. Actually the bet I've had is 8/1 (win only) for more than a month. Now 11/2 with PP and betfair.
Ground not soft enough was the reason given for no prep. I must admit I’m struggling to find something to beat him
Will need them to go hard in front and pick up the pieces. We wanted Liam to ride ours but he has better races at Kempton. It isn’t a plot horse, but could win. I wouldn’t go overboard.
Fancy a few tomorrow singles and doubles: Leop 12.05 Vera Verto 4/1 Chepstow 2.50 The Big Dog 7/1 Leop 2.55 Alfa Mix 7/1 Kempton Cap du Nord 3.10 4/1 Calmer waters tomorrow, thank god!!
Welsh Grand National. Achille @14/1 Stable in great form and, despite Chas Deutsch riding the shorter priced runner, Venetia’s good 5lb claimer, Nugent, will reduce his weight to 9st 10lbs. He has run excellent races all year, mainly in Group 3 company. The distance and going present no problems to this seasoned stayer. Get on with Hills paying 7 places at 1/5 odds.
