It's awful for anyone travelling, surely decisions like this can be made before 10am. Its difficult if you are one player from calling it off then someone coming down with it up to ko time. The only positive from it is that we would have had a very weakend side out although when you have yourself built up for the game it's still disappointing.
Sheff utd is almost certainly off. Blackpool is little more realistic depending on test results... Btw it's not the club that have called it off this late, they made the relevant parties aware this morning but the EFL where adamant that the club play youth players etc... But finally called it off when some of those players tests came back positive also
Well that's a waste of the lft i've done ! Really should stop testing players who aren't ill it's turning everything into a shambles, how many times are the same players testing positive, how do we know it's not a bog standard cold there all getting tested positive for ?
All eligible players under the rules did...the efl then pushed for even younger players to be drafted in! Blame the absolutely farcical EFL/fa for the late announcement, not the club ffs
Anyone recall Colchester away? Got there about 40 mins before kick off, went by a pub with loads of City outside. Still headed to the ground with City players about to get onto coach. Hardly raining at that time. Colchester just didn't fancy it.
The EFL rules are stupid, why should we have to play youth players, we're effectively forfeiting a game. Could you imagine if we went down on goal difference because we lost 6 0 or something like that. It's not a bad thing for us either, we should have a better squad by the end of Jan and Blackburn have mentioned selling some players this window
Because a bog standard cold wouldn't show up positive on the test. Everybody gets tested because some people can be asymptomatic. Everybody should be tested to track how far the infection has spread.
I seem to remember a York city away game ( on boxing Day I think ) being called off just before KO.. Id just got to the ground as it was canned
I was thinking the same, it's a bad time to play Blackburn when they're in the form of their lives and have the most potent striker in the Championship. Rearrange it for February when they've sold Brereton and a few others and we've signed some more players.
If it’s not City’s fault they should def explain in a statement because they are the ones who are getting the flack.
Sorry but the younger ones were obviously eligible then I wasn’t blaming the club particularly, others called off same time before **** testing rules is what I’m saying
Let's not forget the EFL is the deciding factor for calling games off under covid regs, so before we start blaming the club have a think eh ? Few games now have been called off at Premier League and EFL level that have had to wait for official.permission til the last minute from the powers that be.
Ha, exactly my thought too. There was I congratulating myself on how community minded I was being and everything... Kind of expected it, but still disappointing. The atmosphere at Boxing Day matches is unique. Presume this throws all the other festive matches into doubt too.
Blackburn fans will effectively have had a Boxing Day totally wasted with this ridiculously late call. I’d be raging about it.
Don't know our many players have to be available for the game to go ahead but say it's 13 then surely the EfL have to bring some rule out to say once the squad goes down to 16/18 giving a 3/5 man leeway then it's off. This way games would be called off earlier. Take today's game if we are down to 14 fit players at 10am ,appeal to call it off but are refused then between 10 and 1 someone goes down with it?. It's off late. DEL rules
