I don't think it'll be anywhere close to that, the markets changed since COVID. The scouting reports I've seen still don't look to favourably in a couple of areas ( nothing major and should change with maturity ). The figures I've seen being spoken about as his perceived value is approx £12.5/£15m ( not our value but the value others see him as ).
He's much earlier in his development than Bowen though, his value will grow sharply over the next year or two.
None of the players mentioned are a patch on Gavin Gordon & Andy Brown who would tear this division apart.
Jelavic was miles better than Abel. I loved Abel and he was an amazing Championship striker but Jela was different gravy. But on track record, this lad is pretty insane. Yes, the Turkish league isn't a top 5 league it's only a couple of years ago that Muriqi looked awesome for Kosovo against England and everyone was raving about him. He's not had much of a chance at Lazio, he's only made 8 league starts but he's behind Immobile so there's not much you can do about that.
Yes, Jelavic is probably the best we've ever had, but Hernandez wasn't that far behind. Muriqi might have had a good game against England, but it's still hyperbole.
All this talk of best strikers and 'Pancho' Pearson doesn't even get a mention, England International, played for.Man Utd after leaving us !
That's why I said on paper. We've never had anyone who's done it at a Football Giant. It might be the Turkish League but Fenerbache are a huge club. And Abel was miles behind Jela as a PL striker. A fit Jela was far too good for us.
He 'did it' for less than a season, I don't think that's something to hang his hat on. A fit Hernandez would have been alright in the prem too.. behind Jela, but not mies behind.
Well with todays game off and probably Wednesday's game there's going to be plenty of time to make the announcement.
