    The Whitehouse and Mortimer fishing programme was the best thing on TV this Christmas, nice to see Gazza looking a bit happier in himself again but the star of thr show without doubt is Ted the Patterdale terrier

    Thee are a couple of programmes that I regard as heart-warmingly quintessentially 'British'. W&M is one and the other is 'I'm Sorry, I haven't a Clue' on R4.
    Other than that, looking back at the UK from here is a pretty unpleasant sight I have to say.
