It is normally Happy Holidays (plural), as Jewish and Christian festivals are around the same time.
    Yes, it is annoying!

Turkey is another American import in a Christmas dinner. They’re not native to Europe.

    Not according to Wikipedia -
Turkey, officially the Republic of Turkey, is a country located mainly on Anatolia in Western Asia, with a small portion on the Balkans in Southeast Europe.
Also to placate our new Definetly-Maybe owner/s we should be more welcoming...

Yeah, the UK’s use of turkey dates to the 1500s after colonisation of the Americas. Other European countries still have the more traditional goose or duck or pork.

Because people who don't celebrate Christmas aren't at work and have a day off, and to wish them a festival that they don't celebrate would be weird.

I'm not fussy, I'll celebrate any festival going, Christmas, Easter, Jewish New Year, Chinese New Year even the Financial New Year ...

In Spanish they still say Feliz Navidad*, not feliz festivo.

    *Navidad= Christmas.

They do, but it’s a pretty Catholic country isn’t it? Unless they’ve sacked it off.

    Well, I suppose it’s one step below a prayer. It’s a thing, I just wouldn’t expect a result <laugh>.
Kids enjoy it though, my daughter’s face was priceless when she saw her new bike.

The Moorish influence is still quite strong in places, you can see it some of the people.

Retired and unemployed people aren't. A bit daft wishing them a happy holiday. Will they be wishing us Happy .Holiday at Eid, Diwali and Passover as we don't celebrate them?

Im watching a bit of Abba at the minute.
I'd put Agnetha in the same mould as Susan George and Olivia Newton John.
Stunning looks and 2 of them can sing.
Apologies if the festival word has created a sidetrack.
