Ox good. Konate quickly becoming a favourite of mine Kelleher did well despite letting 3 in Gomez looked lost mostly Great entertainment that was tbh. Enjoyed the game even when we were behind which i only really do in this cup
Full game for anyone who cant work the Internet https://footyfull.com/league-cup/liverpool-vs-leicester-city-22-12-2021/
It’s not a choice though I also think that apart from the semi this is the best chance of a cup to win It’s only the semi that causes any hassle it’s done by Feb ffs Plus I don’t think this is a Mickey Mouse cup Never have done Too much cup snobbery in todays society Start of season 4 cups available Any of them is a good win imho
Yeah, you cannot win something you are not in. 99% of clubs never win anything and in the oil doping era 7 of the last 8 have been shared by city and Chelsea with just man utd winning the other. Sure the big one is the cl and the league is bread and butter but this team of ours needs to win more things before it breaks up. We have a league cup final, europa final and cl final to back one league and one cl. Personally I'd like to see a couple more pots for klopp. Semi final is not to be sneezed at ever imo
I agree with you, but you've got to be realistic unfortunately. There is a reason city have won this for 5 years in a row or what ever they did. They are the only side with 2 first 11s capable of challenging on 4 fronts. We have to prioritise. I was amazed at half time that klopp changed it, I reckon Rogers must have smirked at him or called him a walker and klopp saw his arse and threw the better players on to prove a point. We can't play the majority of our first 11 game in game out, unfortunately our back ups are injury prone and some are just not that great.
Kelleher just spanked leicester Tsimikas is half decent Gomez is rusty but needs games like this Konate is absolutely stinking Keita did alight here. Ox.did alright eleven if hes not great. Firmino needed the minutes. Milner didnt start as hes the spare lb/ cm for next two games. Origi was injured. We are only seeing neco williams, morton coming in here compared to the players arsenal are turning up with as hot prospects. Really our issue is nobody but oil dopers can have 25 top class players to pick from so we are not doing to badly at all.
As an additiona We are doing well, but mostly its as you say players coming back from injury, needing minutes on the pitch. Tsimikas is very much second choice and should be. Gomez is probably 4th choice now and looks it Konate I'm amazed klopp risked him Keita I'm amazed klopp risked him Ox again still finding form and needs minutes Firmino needed the minutes Milner indestructible, could play every match. Like I say the players considered part of the first 11 are coming back from injury, if they weren't I doubt they'd have played. The rest very much back ups I still think klopp got upset by something to risk konate and keita in particular
I understand that totally, but as i said before this one is done by feb with most managers putting in weakened sides Get it won and in the bag then look at the next Either way Made up to be in semi, hope we go onto win it
Would be nice but not at the expense of big ears or the league, was a great game tonight but its a **** cup for us to win. Nowadays anyway.. under klopp and/or fsg its just the way it is. Use who we can and have to, until the final, if we get there same again next round for me, kids and 2nd string & see what happens. Final is 1st team, kids who got us there can touch the trophy, change the wall again & all good
I sincerely doubt that as frankly keita needed time as well. Theres a point where you don't want a kid destroyed as well. Bradley and Koumetio got their 45mins experience and individually did ok but vardy was toying with them on the break. Morton was on a card and imo if the ref got an view of the tackle he was going to be carded next breath he took towards a leicester player. In the end we now go forward to 2 games in 48 hours knowing we have fabinho, milner, henderson, ox and kieta all fit and ready to go with most likely jones as well. Much better then leicester. Same up top with firmino and minamino offering resting legs to the front 3 who are likely to be subbed on 60mins. And in the back line we have 4 cbs and 3 RBS and milner to cover tsimikas. Leicester have prioritised the league cup and imo are going to pay in spades over the next two league games.
Win the cup in front of you. A semi final is the big thing. The cl is the last 16. It's not available to win right now. This is why lfc rarely won the fa cup. It took second place as it coincided. No coincidence that over the dark times of european ban we won the double. Were in final in 1988 for another double and in 1989 we won it again Klopps first 3 years we reached the final and lost on pens and blew up in the sfs. The fa cup is at this point just a 3rd round v Shrewsbury. The kids will play again in that one. The league has to be played all the time and every game a must win and that's really the rub. However playing the fit first team squad who are actually decent is no bad thing in the cups as the sharpen up. Kelleher William's gomez konate tsimikas Ox morton/milner keita Minamino firmino origi Bar the lack of real forward options our second string isnt too bad
Thing is the league cup was liverpools trophy. City come along and made it theirs in recent times so be nice to get a win and get that record back though. Yea it might not be biggest trophy but there’s only 4 trophies up for grabs, shouldn’t scoff st any of them. Also say it all the time, it’s no bad thing giving players exposure to cup finals and the pressure of winning trophies or one off important matches.
For me it's more - let's see where we are in the league compared to City by then - if we're still in touching distance then it's just a distraction but if we have an awful Christmas then I'm all for going for it.
Or winning it will boost confidence around the players and club and give us an extra boost in the run in for the league / CL
Can't see that anyone else as posted this do... Semi-final draw: Arsenal v Liverpool Chelsea v Spurs Games to be played over two legs!
Actually having seen the tackle again it is not a red card as the Leicester player was jumping out of the way and his foot was not on the ground
