I agree but the nut jobs out their will say "what about obesity, what about smokers" etc. Simple answer is overweight smokers who love McDonalds are harming themselves, not posing a risk to others. It's classic conspiracy theorist whataboutery
At 66 I'm no longer worried about myself or living forever, but I'm triple jabbed and tested because I don't want to feel responsible for a single death or long term health problems for anyone, even strangers. I accepted a lift to Ipswich, from a lad who recently had a brush with death, who kindly picked me up at Newark. It would be shameful and Irresponsible to have shared his car without being vaccinated, and that's the point, we all bump into people like him every day. Yes of course we have our own rights, but we also have responsibilities.
The NHS can beg til the cows come home , but I can’t see the 10% who haven’t gone for their first yet , having a change of mind. They wouldn’t want to admit they were wrong . Apply the passports . Never mind the vote of 600mp’s - if it were a referendum 90% of the public would agree.
The data doesn't seem to support the case for more restrictions. Hospitalisations and deaths haven't shot up, and those are the important metrics. This is eventually going to end up like cold and flu, whether this is the first variant that matches them, we don't know just yet. One of the biggest problems here is the media's ghoulish obsession with either screaming for lockdown or screaming to be set free from lockdown.
The vaccinated v unvaccinated is also more nuanced, in that it is the booster that is more effective against omicron. So you could have had the double jab earlier but now need a booster for protection. As for the more data point, at the moment Bonko has imho bowed to his back benchers and not brought in more restrictions. it seems, by the time the data is in, showing lots more hospitalisations it is already past the time that a lockdown would be effective (ie horse has bolted). So as far as I can make ut, you have to take a punt on a lockdown now... to flatten the curve, ie the number of hospitalisations at a high peak, to a lower level, which the NHS can cope with, or not bother at all. Bonko has taken a big gamble... IF the NHS gets overwhelmed he will be blamed.
I despise The Grand Liar Boris, I really do I was mortified when him and Horrible Hancock used to appear on our TV's every evening avoiding answering questions and telling us all a pack of lies.
Saturday 10K omicron. (I dont know sunday) Monday 8K omicron. It doubles every 2 days. Monday is 2 days after saturday. I hope the trigonometry they taught me was good because it seems the arithmetic I learnt was crap
There's a rabbit away somewhere. It's just been on the radio that they think people's change of behaviour is having a noticeable impact on the transmission. What is the true level of Omicron cases is the big question, and we don't know.
Agree that the levels are likely unknown , but if that’s the case I wish they therefore wouldn’t state “ doubling” as a fact - and restrict the issue of those daily figures - they are becoming meaningless. Personally I would now take more notice of a non political non biased medical/ virologist expert who just honestly said “ I’d love to tell you but I just don’t know figures, but it is very concerning, when I’m certain of facts , I will”
Agree. There have been reports in the media of people stating they won't get vaccinated after reading stuff on social media, but would if they were forced to for holidays etc Force their hand. Make vaccine passports (and not just evidence of a negative test) mandatory everywhere. That'll soon smoke them out
Young matron nurse on TV last week in London saying the nurses were getting frustrated at the number on unvaccinated people they were having to treat. I don’t wish anyone to get seriously ill with it but if the hospitals get really stretched then they should give priority to those vaccinated, who have at least tried to minimise the spread.
Scotland's cases down from 5k yesterday to 2k today. This apparently means something's gone wrong - ie cases aren't rising enough to justify restrictions so there must be something wrong with them.....
