Fabulous hat-trick goal from Nketiah against Sunderland just now. Odegaard is a joy to watch. Tremendous signing for £30m (mad as that sounds).
Arsenal has assembled a really good and very young group of attackers, despite their best efforts. They just need to avoid what is, perplexingly, the biggest downfall of English clubs in recent years: trying to replace all of that exciting young talent with shiny new objects that cost three times as much and don't play football half as well. Odegaard, Saka, ESR and Martinelli is a really dynamic group that could take them a long way (especially if one of their young strikers like Nketiah comes good), they just need to resist the "but what if we spent another £100m on attacking mids" trap that plagued them in the past.
They seemed to have learned their lesson. Ramsdale looks a brilliant signing in goal and White and Gabriel seem to be forming the sort of CB partnership they've desperately needed for years. I really like the look of RB Tomiyasu. I still can't believe Villa went in for Smith Rowe - not a cat in hell's chance of him leaving Arsenal for Villa. And Saka is a superstar in the making. Might have trouble keeping hold of him down the line.
They currently have a 72m attacking midfielder who is basically kicking rocks. He is now behind all the attackers mentioned I assume that is what is the point being made re: “despite their best efforts” Also twice in a row they have given a 300K+ p/w contact out and that player has then immediately stunk the joint out. They need to resist the temptation to blow a crazy amount of money on a replacement. But they will presumably need a replacement striker
Even Real Madrid doesn't need as many attacking mids as Arsenal had a couple years ago! Why is the first thing that happens when a team gets too much money that they stack the team with eight guys who all serve effectively the same function that they then cannot shoehorn into the same lineup? I swear, half of Liverpool's success is that they have a manageable rotation with complementary talents and they don't unnecessarily **** with it.
Klopp faces no further action for accusing the ref of having a vendetta against him How is this not bringing the game into disrepute ? And at what point do we and other clubs whose managers have been punished for far less get to start making complaints ? It’s almost as if the Premier League are scared he will leave if they punish him or something. Which is nonsense . But why does he get away with so much ?
Brentford suddenly have no Covid cases in the squad for tonight's cup game. It's a Christmas miracle.
I normally would be for the underdogs but on this occasion I really hope that Chelsea humiliate them tonight now.
Why are people so annoyed? It probably means we get to play Brentford with a fit Stuart Armstrong, which drastically increases our chances of winning the game, whoever Brentford would have been missing had the game been played on Saturday.
Principle perhaps ? It just looks incredibly suspicious that ALL of their cases have conveniently dropped away I also admire the optimism on a fit Armstrong. I can only hope that is indeed the case
It's also not as if we're in flying form right now. Now sure, we also might not be when we come to play the rearranged game. But who knows, we might be on a three game winning streak or something. If we had played Swansea when we were meant to, would Gabbiadini been brought on for Bednarek? Basically, it doesn't bother me. It can work either way. What will be, will be.
I think we’d have beaten Brentford, and particularly a weakened one. That would have kept the wolves at bay, and might have sparked some confidence. As it is, we may well struggle to get much out of Wham and Spuds. Lose both of those, confidence dives and the vultures squark even louder. That’s what bothers me about it. Our best chance is with the witchcraft of my threads.
Now that is an excellent intervention from the 4th official. Referee missed it as it was off the ball but 4th official saw it and a deserved booking for Bowen.
Yeah it stinks but we have an injury problem so playing them with a fit squad is probably to our advantage plus the longer the season goes on the more shine will come off their promotion momentuum potentially so another potential upside.
Bertrand and Vestergaard get subbed on and Leicester concede 8 minutes later haha. Apparently both have been awful since leaving, Leicester fans certainly think it was money wasted.
