Would Robin Van Persie stay at Arsenal if we dropped out of the top 4?

I actually feel for him. His career has been blighted with so many injuries and without them he could have gone on to become one of the best strikers the world has ever seen - his form of 24 from 26 in this rare injury free run of games shows it.

But if a club like Real Madrid come knocking would he be able to resist?

In the Premier League, every top club has got a good line up of strikers at the moment, except for Tottenham, but Van Persie would never go there.

Barcelona wouldn't need him, but Madrid could do with an out and out goalscorer, because they'll all be calling for one when Barcelona beat them, again, to another title (For completely different reasons, of course).

And the Italian clubs might want him too, but the strength of the league means that there might be no point.

I think he would stay at Arsenal unless a MASSIVE offer came that the board couldn't refuse, or we dropped out of the top 6. What say you?

I wouldn't blame him if he left but we really need him to stay.

On a bizzare side note, if form is what makes a player world class, then he has to be right up there at the moment. He's carrying this arsenal team on his shoulders.

If he does go i'll be massively disappointed in him.

apart from everything he says about loving arsenal etc
for the pure amount of commitment we've given him even tho he only played a handful of games a season for years whilst still paying him every week!

if anything he owes us to stay!

    That's bollocks, sorry.

The guy is, as we acknowledge, potentially one of the best in the world, and he's still young enough to realise that potential within his career. If we can't give him the opportunity to do that, then he'll always wonder what his career could've been. Nobody should begrudge a man wanting to make the most of his life while he still can.

We had a strong reason for letting Cesc go and we had an excuse for selling Narsi. But here is a completely different situation. If we do not keep RVP for the next 2 or 3 years, then we can safely say that Arsenal is not a big club any more. Henri was on 200K a week. If we need to pay RVP 220K to keep him, so be it. Just sell Diaby and Arshavin to save half of this money if needed. Although I would keep Andrei. Almunia anyone?? No?
