Burton Constable, Sunderland, Hammersmith, Reading - fantastic but too short lived blues/rock band ...
Saw them at Brid spa, should have been supported by the up and coming Van Halen but due to illness they were replaced by a band you've never heard of Tans de Hoof, they were crap, which is why you never heard of them.
possibly, i'd ask my older brother as he used to go there but i havent spoken to him in over a year. close family an all that.
25 years since I saw the Chemical Brothers at Manchester Apollo and they still are my favourite band. The Stones have really cut it close though as I've aged - one of my favourites:-
Saw The Libertines last night and they're still on top form. Their tour manager is from Hull so I was very lucky to be on guest list. A few years ago I worked for record labels in London so was lucky enough to see some great shows. Saw a very intimate performance in my office from two members of Linkin Park - only months before the lead singer committed suicide.
Sheena Easton , Dennis Waterman and Gerard Kenny at New Theatre not a band but she looked gorgeous in her red and white jump suit She could be so good for me ! Hot Chocolate were good and Squeeze and my all time fave Bad Company!
after paul rodgers (the greatest singer who ever lived and still very capable in what, must be his 90's?) left bad company, the new bad company singer Brian howe was in comparison = ****. considering he is a very accomplished singer that just shows you how good the original was. i just wanted to see who would bite. theres a very sad brian howe song on youtube recorded as if he knew he was on borrowed time. (dont think he was?) but a bit too much over forced vibrato for me.
fact tony blair was once was asked who's job he would have liked to have done if he hadnt been prime minister. he replied = paul rodgers or words to that effect.
Saw Paul Rodgers at Brid Spa as support for Status Quo and he was excellent.. My own favorite gigs were Tina Turner in Sheffield 1996. Albert Lee and his band several times over the last 40 odd years. A true guitar virtuoso.
Back then I was able to (and did) copy the Paul Rodgers/Rory Gallagher style of hair - nowadays it's the Right Said Fred look
i tried the long hair but it did my head in (literally) trying to cram it all into a crash helmet. taking it off to reveal a mass stuck to my forehead etc. i eventually opted for the mod look which as slowly over the years turned jimmy somerville. my karaoke singing voice sadly has gone the reverse direction...
