Nope he was involved in the next 4 match day squads. So you are saying it's ok for him to not put in effort in training, but expect to be picked?
We got what we deserved sweet FA. My question is where were our midfield for all 3 of their goals? I don't think any of them were anywhere to be seen for any of their goals. All 3 goals come from lost possession in the opponents half, with every single midfield player and both wing backs ahead of the ball when they broke, somebody from midfield has got to sit in and protect the centre backs and also control our wing backs, the midfield organisation is shocking. Whilst on the subject of wing backs we cannot carry on using 2 teenage midfielders as wing backs, it's a nonsense and is costing us. I said a few weeks ago I don't think Massengo is fully fit and I will stick to that thought, all of our midfielders want too much time on the ball and along with our 2 young wing backs and Weimann they go down far too easily and the referee as with virtually all referees at this level all of this season was having none of it, sometimes there needs to be more honesty and strength and to stay on their feet, they know referees at this level have been told to allow the game flow more and they have known this all season.
Nah, didn't see anything wrong with Massengo's performance today, pretty normal. He's the only player that tries to play the simple ball and 9 times out of 10 delivers it... Most of our approach play consists of 3-4 passes and then broken up and then it reverts to longer balls.. Our passing on the whole is pretty dreadful, the only time we look decent, is when we close down from higher up the pitch and 1 and 2 touch passing. Most of Scott's & Semenyo's work was positive IMO, but overall we still struggle to gel, making wrong decisions, leading to being caught out and making mistakes at the back... Does NP have any plans apart from plan A?..........I'm not sure he does..
Fine, but who was the midfielder protecting the back 3 today, because I never saw one? for all of their goals how many midfielders/wing backs were ever in the picture whilst the move progressed? because all I saw was Massengo, James, Weimann, Scott and Benarous scampering back having been caught out ahead of the ball. For their first goal James just about made it back before the final pass but never put a worthwhile challenge in, Massengo was 20 away struggling to get back, clearly visible in the head on camera angle. I am not criticising Massengo's general play and when he plays it quick it's good, but he too often takes a 2nd touch and get's caught. My criticism is that you cannot get caught 3 times with 5 of your players ahead of the ball, when our move breaks down and 2 others taken out by either a wide ball or a ball down the middle and 3 to 4 breaking attackers against 3 defenders. I have said for may a year that is what makes us easy to play against, just bide your time and wait for a move to breakdown and break at pace in numbers and that is exactly what happened for all 3 goals with 5 players desperately floundering to get back into position.
Most of the time Massengo is tracking back, but not at fault for any of their goals IMO..Surely you're not expect him to be covering all over the pitch more than he does? he does cover most..IMO, Scott should/could have recovered quicker for their first.. Not many times in this particular game did Massengo get caught from his 2nd touch...in the game I watched!! Again I feel that he should have a free role in Midfield What we don't do is act as a unit between midfield and at the back, We often have Scott, Semenyo, Weimann & Martin striving to get forward leaving us short for cover. Other players need to fill in the gaps as cover...It's how we get caught.. Part of our main problem, is our passing & decision making, I'd say 80% bad to dreadful..
I can't help but notice how much space we allow their forwards which ends up creating mayhem in our defenders. A lot of our passing today was so bad and led to us giving away the ball far too easily and then our opposition bring it right back at us with measured play making. Absolutely nothing is happening on our supposed route to better football and I wonder if it is ever on the cards, or are we just waiting for a miracle to happen by osmosis? Long may the country club attitude prevail because it offers relief to knackered footballers who are looking for a place to hang up their boots without having to input effort. Other players just either pass us by without a glance and those who do decide to come our way quickly pick up on the apathetic attitude that prevails and soon realize they need a new home to buy in to their dreams. Sad place right now and I can't see much coming our way in the New Years honours list.
I never said he was at fault, I said that when our moves for all 3 goals broke down, him, James, Weimann, Scott and Benarous had all put themselves into a position where they were either ahead of the ball or taken out by a quick pass wide or down the middle with 3 or 4 fast breaking attackers, leaving our centre backs without any cover whatsoever and that should not happen once let alone 3 times, I thought today he played as if he had a free role but somebody has to sit in and organise, it is criminal to get caught out 3 times like we did today.
The organization and tactics of the team seem to have got lost somewhere in our mix. With all of the various deficiencies in our squad I would have expected NP to have a different hymn sheet to sing from, but apparently that also went on the lam. Individually there some exceptions to the rule but as far as team cohesion it's all a bloody joke and I'm not really laughing right now and the thought of League One again is abhorrent. Is anyone listening to the vibe from the terraces?
Yes we were outplayed but I thought their 2nd and 3rd goals were offside and officials were generally poor, however Pring should have started at left wing back, poor decision by Nigel
For their first goal. 1 pass took out 6 of our players in Hudderfields half and 2 in our own half leaving 2 defenders on their own and 8 players scrambling back.
Could be catch 22.. he may think, what’s the point of putting the effort in at training if he’s not gonna get picked..not the right attitude it has to be said.. but with his ability he should be given all the chances possible to be involved.. sounds more like some feud between him, NP or some of the other players.. which is our loss. If that is the case then maybe he should move on..
How many times have we seen that be the case this season? Our defensive coaching has been poor this season. Not sure who is in charge of that, but it’s been the issue too many times
Nige and Curtis Fleming were both good defenders. So the question needs to be asked are our defenders not listening to what they are being taught by 2 seasoned professionals who played at the top level, or are they not being coached at all. From what I saw on the highlights, Huddersfield looked a yard quicker, and mentally sharper than we did.
