See he's piling the workload on Liz Truss, he's either kissing her arse or trying to keep her busy, but I think she's the rising star, and she also has the advantage of being a Tory woman, the powerful shadow of Thatcher still looms large among the old school.

There's a maelstrom developing. The Govt and the media whipping people up into a frenzy, threatening all sorts about a variant they don't yet fully understand. Sage have been asked to model the worst case scenarios and present them to the public as fact. The reality is that whilst we have a lack of data thus far, the early signs point to this new variant being the one that could eventually burn covid out. It's more transmissible but less severe. People need to chill the **** out, be sensible and cautious until we know for sure. All this talk of restrictions, lockdowns, circuit breaks etc is such an overreaction

Up until , say, 9 or 10 days ago, cases were 40-50K per day and had been at that level for quite sometime ( seemed it was being accepted so long as hospitalisation wasn't going up ) . Yesterday they said new infections were 90K. They said yesterdays Omicron infections were 10K . My arithmetic says if Omicron didn't exist there would have been 80K Delta cases. Are they unconcerned/unaware that Delta has suddenly increased 60% --- or are their Omicron figures so far out we should be asking Diane Abbot to verify them ? Or am I just being dim and missing the obvious, do tell me if I am

Unless you, or anyone, can tell them, or anyone, how to count cases that aren't reported, that is right . . . . nobody's 'got a ****ing clue' :emoticon-0105-wink:

If you look through history at all the Prime Ministers we've had and think about how serious this situation is and how bad it can get going forward...what was really needed was someone with genuine leadership qualities and someone the public could rally around and trust.......We have this moron...What a kick in the nuts.

There will be thousands who catch it and get over it without even realizing.

Finally it looks as though the penny may have dropped with some of the more sensible members of the Cabinet

and Lord Frost insisting he quit purely over disagreements about Covid, I think he's the 1st rat to jump off the sinking HMS Boris. Watch for who distances themselves now, the next leadership group is already mobilising.

He needs to face the consequences of this speech to the Institute of Economic Affairs, I know he has already had questions across the despatch box about it.

We now know that Omicron is spreading very quickly. We also know that having the 3 jabs reduces the chances of being very ill a lot. We also know that there are still a lot of idiot anti-vaxxers. We also know that it is the unvaccinated that are becoming the majority of hospitalisations/ICU beds occupants.

So is Bonko and his chums right not to have more restrictions?

If he is waiting to see if hospitalizations rise, is that too late, shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted?

This may go down wrong but **** the unvaxxed.

They've apparently made a decision based upon their own research so in my opinion it's a case of "pays yer money, takes yer chance"

Obviously this attitude does not apply to those who genuinely can't have the vax for medical reasons.

Did I read somewhere that some countries are making the anti-vaxxers pay for their hospital care? Seems fair to me.

The NHS is literally begging people to be vaccinated.

Those who won't accept that protection should waive their rights to hospital care.
