I'm sure I read that the main doc in the middle of the South Africa breakout of Omicron said the same thing.
Yup. They've been saying it for a couple of weeks down in SA. Finally someone in the UK is saying the same
It is good news , but I bet within 24 hours another reporter will have interviewed some single individual with an opinion and will headline disaster just to get a story in print
Well my 40yr old, fully vaccinated niece has been hospitalised and is on oxygen from the good old fashioned Delta variant. Does that count?
So Sorry to hear that , I hope your niece is well soon. I was just making the point that we keep hearing conflicting predictions leaving us not having a clue what to expect or to believe.
Thanks, I was just pointing out that Delta cases were rising before Omicron showed up and just because players are getting Covid, doesn't mean Omicron and mild cases.
Yeah I watched a 25 minute interview with a doctor from South Africa, she’d literally filmed positive patients wandering out laughing saying ‘they ain’t even ill’ Virus mutate to survive, they become weaker so they can transit easier. ****ing morons running the gaff trying yet more scare tactics. I will not be respecting any lockdown or any such horse ****, they can choke on my long, fat, shiny Mackem dick. I’m done with these ****ers.
When infections were 40/50 k daily , football was being played. Now 70/80+ k per day - because of omicron- loads of games off . Does this show/prove a) easier faster transmission b) bearing in mind footballers low vaccine uptake , it’s seeking out the unvaccinated, the vaccines are effective ?
This report suggests that there is still no evidence to state that Omicron is less severe than Delta. Doesn't mean it isn't, of course, as the data set they have available is very small. https://www.ft.com/content/020534b3-5a54-4517-9fd1-167a5db50786
The Welsh Government have just issued a decree that from Boxing Day all indoor and outdoor sporting events have to be played behind closed doors. 5th placed Wrexham had a home sell-out game against 6th placed Solihull. Yes, the Welsh Government will give financial support, but last season showed that without fans there was no real home advantage. It's going to be a sod for them if England are still going to allow fans at games.
