What do you guys think or expect to come out of the Premier League meeting today. The PL are keen to go ahead with the festive fixture.( No doubt because of the TV money) But they are open to cancelling the round of matches from the 28th to 30th
Given that round of fixtures are all live on Amazon Prime I can't see that happening. Clubs will not be keen to reimburse Amazon.
I think that they will ban fans again and players after Christmas will have to form bubbles. Too much demand for Christmas football to cancel.
They won't ban fans unless they are ordered to by the government. They may reduce capacities slightly so they can keep subs and coaching staff away from the fans. They'll stop players from jumping into the crowds when celebrating a goal but there shouldn't be any need to ban fans.
And Klopp. Liverpool pushed for gameweek 20 to be postponed. I just think Klopp and Tuchel are using Covid as an excuse to try and lighten the Christmas schedule. ****ers.
Wonder how many of last weekends cancelled games fitted this category. Surely Brentford would have gone ahead.
Yeah it does seem quite unfair we couldn’t play them as scheduled There is still wiggle room for some clubs if they do covid + injuries . Which I guess was Brentford’s claim ?
Surely if they field a team on Wednesday they should retrospectively be investigated and forfeit the match against us. Clearly tried to game the system
They won't be. It was only today it was agreed that if a team has 14 fit players they need to fulfil the fixture. The PL agreed to postpone the game at the end of the day.
Oh I know. It is still very suspect Not least using different rules part way through the season Beggars belief that they said no to Chelsea I am going to be quite interested in the Brentford and Chelsea team sheets on Wednesday. And if I were the premier league i would be as well in case this is tried again I am saying all this - maybe Brentford will just forfeit . Don’t see it though
The 14 player rule must have already been in place as I read about it, and posted it on here about a week ago, querying why games were being called off. If today’s meeting is confirming that, then maybe some clubs have mentioned it and asked why the rule wasn’t being implemented.
Imagine the meltdown of Saints v Brentford is rearranged for final midweek of the season, we’re level on points in 17/18th position and their full strength side beats us to send us down. Not beyond realms of possibility
