take your point with koch about other sides chasing him but i think he is a decent player for the price we paid which was quite cheap considering a full german international, now on the flip side we have rodrigo at 30m, james at 25m, costa 16m,harrison around 17m, none who have been a complete ripper...wonder if risdale is still hanging around the corridors with his "loadsa money " rhetoric
Well, we need to grasp at something. If we get players back we might win a few more battles. The issue I have in the last two games is that the players mindset has changed. We are now forcing it whereas Bielsaball should just naturally flow. The situation is obviously affecting how individuals are playing especially decision making. Those little 5 yard passes that should be oh so easy now become much harder due to fear. This has spread even to the most senior players. It's incredibly difficult to turn that mindset around. Sheff Utd had some really bad luck at the beginning of last season and were very unlucky with results (including a defeat to us). They lost their heads and they haven't recovered to this day. It's easy to attach blame to individuals but moving forward the management and players need to turn this around as a group. It will take alot of mental strength and we will need a few decisions to go for us and a bit of luck. For the first time this season I'm genuinely worried about relegation.
And this is another thing that has me worried, i am sure Newcastle's results will show an improvement, they gave Liverpool a game, and they also have game changers in their team, saint-maximin, joellinton, Wilson, who do we have Raphael who is now showing signs of i am only as good as the team around me. As Emu said and i quote For the first time this season I'm genuinely worried about relegation
I'm ok today. I had two flagons and went to bed early. I've some ale left in the fridge and just waiting till 12 to start.
Well you know my views shakes. I was not happy with no signings pre season. Two mids and a striker were on my list plus a left back. We signed firpo who looks like a winger and james who is no striker. Teams are running through our midfield because we do not have one. 14 goals let in last 3 games speaks for itself. Bielsa can get as angry as he likes but he chooses the team and dictates the tactics. For such a top rated coach he makes very foolish decisions.
Do we have any interest in teams playing today. I will have a look see and if so cheer on the other team
Just want to make sure everyone is a depressed as me. I can just see it now come mid Feb all our players are back and on form then we have the stupid international break in March with their usual crop of injuries
Morning all. Thought our young players all did well yesterday and I'm going to stick up for Cody Drameh in particular. It appears Souness has ripped into him on Sky sports and one or two on here seem to agree. My take on the 2nd Arsenal goal is different though, Drameh has pushed out and is level with Koch but Ayling is 6/7 yards behind those two and this shocking defensive line is the cause of the concession. Had Ayling been level with Koch it's clearly offside. The 4th Arsenal goal is similar with Ayling deeper than everyone else but not close enough to be on the cover. Defenders need to be able to let pacy strikers run offside as it's a major part of the art of defending but our defender furthest from the play kept playing them all onside. Drameh did it for the 3rd goal as Saka ran beyond Dallas at left back and it's our right back is playing him on, that was marginal though, whereas when Ayling had dropped off he was visibly yards deeper than the rest. Three Arsenal goals easily defended against with a good defensive line.
Except isn’t the point of having all our youth teams and U23s playing the same way as the first team so when they are good enough to step up they are used to playing the system we play? The fact is that because of the number of injuries some are being played before they’re ready.
