I thought Forest looked a good team. We played ok but Wilks and Magennis didn’t offer the same level of threat as Forest’s attack. Unjust penalty turned the game, but I don’t think we can really complain about the result - they shaded it. Longman was off colour, but bizarrely Elder was even worse when he came on (he doesn’t look comfortable as a wing back) - though KLP seemed to relish swapping sides. V impressive attendance figure.
I did, and enjoyed it. You can't take much away from Chisorah there, two tough guys leaving nothing in the ring.
Unfortunately circumstances dictated I missed the game but reading reports it seems we tried hard but came up just short, which against the form team in the division isnt a bad effort. Or did the score flatter us ?
Just watched the "penalty" again. No wonder the lads were fuming! If anything it's a foul on Honeyman
No the score didn't flatter us. We took the lead somewhat against the run of play but had defended well in the first half and limited them to a few half chances. Other than the goal - which was high class - we barely threatened though. A dodgy penalty and an unfortunate defensive error meant we conceded two in the second half. We persevered. Looked good in midfield, but flattered to deceive in the final third. However we created a few half decent chances and it wouldn't have been anywhere near a travesty if we'd have snatched an equaliser. Overall we looked a fairly decent, established Championship side rather than a promoted team surviving on effort and adrenaline alone.
On the pen, I think the 4th official might have informed ref he missed Wilks trying to change shirts with one of theirs at the corner, so gave the one in which George clearly won the ball. That's football.
We had no electricity until now, so haven't had internet all day. On the game, I really enjoyed our performance, we were certainly done by a poor ref decision on the penalty which swung the game in their favour, however, we were a bit lucky to get away with one when Wilk's was pulling one of their shirts. Nevertheless, a point would IMO have been a fair result. KLP was excellent all game, Docherty, particularly in the first half was also very good. Again, all the player's bar Wilks, and to some degree, Bernard, who I thought didn't have one of his better games, performed well. I actually enjoyed the first half with no commentary, I don't know why James Fletcher wasn't commentating. The second half, their commentary came on, and after listening to it for 5 minutes I turn it off, as they were really pissing me off with how good Forest was and poor we were, and that there was only one possible result but a Forest one. They seem to be watching a different game. All in all, to come away having had a poor refereeing decision make the difference between the 2 sides, after the run, they have been on, which shows how far we have come. Credit to Mc Cann who got his tactics more or less right, and unlucky not to come away with at least a point.
That cannot be a reason for awarding a penalty. And the shirt pulling by Wilkes was a pathetic attempt. Seen far worse and no penalty awarded.
