I'm pretty sure most players don't play for nothing. He was brought in as back up for bamfor d and that's what he did. I could hear the moaning from here if we had no back up. And he was replaced by augustin.
Well I have a day off and come back to a bit of disagreeing going on. Just catching up on who is going where in January if you can believe the press, but Fabrizio Romano has made me wonder this morning. If its true that John Swift wqnts to stay at Reading then fk him, simples. However Christian Erikson is not signing for Ajax on a free as everyone thought would happen. For those who dont know, Erikson isnt allowed to play in Italy because of his tiny defibulator, but he can play elsewhere. His Italian team have agreed to release him from his contract and now hes a free agent……..
Yeah cannot disagree with that, but we all know the names we’ve been linked with but can anyone see any of those players arriving in a couple of weeks time? Lots of speculation about 49ers panicking and willing to hand over a big wedge to try and stop relegation. Relegation would devalue 49ers investment by a couple of hundred million quid My own view is we stay up and results turn around in the New Year. I also see at least one signing that will make a difference and we will also see a full fit squad again next month with maybe Phillips and Cooper back early February
Realistically who’s going to want to join in January who might improve the squad, remember Bielsa needs to believe they’ll improve the squad. Firstly, Newcastle will snap up anyone in the Championship worth a gamble as they’ve got silly money. Secondly we’re going to be even nearer to the drop by the time we reach January and get through these fixtures, nobody will want to join a team with risk of relegation. Thirdly Bielsa won’t be the appeal he was previously in helping attract players, not because we’re near the bottom but because it’s all pointing towards it being his last. We know from past signings in January that Bielsa never feels they are up to speed and worth selection for at least 8 weeks. Any deals will be done the backend of the month, I can’t see us bringing in anyone if I’m honest. They’ll keep the money in the bank ready for a new guy next season
I know there’s no weekend debate this week but a couple of points to think about: Why is French football having games abandoned because of crowd violence. Our media as usual silent on this because they like to blame English fans for being racist thugs. Yet Marseilles have had 2 games abandoned due to Ultras and bottles and flares being thrown, Rennes, Lyonand this week yet another match. Will UEFA do anything, will anyone say anything bad about the French? Why are so many matches called off through covid when we are all supposed to be jabbed? Well it seems 25% of players have refused the jab, so will clubs do what Care Employers and NHS are doing and sack any player who refuses? In the USA millions have been sacked from being pilots, police, fire fighters, medics, teachers. Its madness but as usual the idiocy tends to creep into the UK and it could happen, like vaccine passports. Lets face it, if you can contract covid and pass it on whats the point of a passport or even getting jabbed unless your old and have health problems
Som managers talk bollox. Arteta said he believes fairness in the competition so if a club has players out with covid it would be unfair to play them. Yet nobody says anything about Leeds who have only 9 first team players available?
If they won’t join a relegation threatened Leeds they won’t join a relegation threatened Newcastle either.
The top six or so are superior to anyone else. This is the way they think as they like to run the league and the refs too. Wish i was going today as i would be cheering the lads on against the jumped up twhat.
Football manager quotes of the weekend comes from Barcelona new coach Xavi. He was asked yesterday why the team is still struggling. He replied because the players are finding it hard to understand the way I want them to play. Honest and angry
No mate, what I mean is I think we’re going to have to do our shopping in the Championship. You can bet any target we want Newcastle will jump in with a stupid overpriced offer
Four loans in a season but two at any one time. Will Pep help out an old pal, have they anyone who could be available? I’ve a feeling we’re heading for a circuit breaker lockdown so that might affect a few clubs spending power if we do.
With regard to January spending Everton have already agreed £20m for the Ukraine player and he is spending more, Newcastle have got cash to burn and will spend big Villa have already said they are bringing players in, Watford the same and so too are Burnley and Norwich. So clubs at the bottom are going in heavy, ghen you go to Conte at Spurs and he is spending big and so are Man Utd now Rapfs at the wheel. This will be the biggest cash layout in the prem January window for a few years.
