Liked Purse as a player for us and it's great to welcome him back. I just hope he has the experience to keep the momentum going and improve our excellent U23 set-up.
We are trying our best. I notice your game is off on Saturday as well. Is this Covid related? Hoping both our squads have a clean bill of health by Boxing Day.
Couple of ex-captains making a comeback. Trying to build a culture? Interesting that its CBs that are returning.
Yes mate, Stokies are saying they have the issue, but EFL say if you have 14 players the game should go ahead, they've got at least 18 fit and able by their count. We haven't had any cases of 1st teamers, just a couple in the u23's who train in a different facility. Not expecting any games over Crimbo tbh
Masky not around much lately. Must be self isolating. Or self something ing. Our esteemed First Minister may have more influence on the Boxing Day fixture than covid infections. He will be making another proclamation on Monday, he is a really useless pillock. Best wishes to you and your family for Christmas and 2022 Robbie.
The same back to you Andy and Pete (scull), Clingo and everyone else, (even Masky!!) take care of yourselves and families and we'll see you in the New Year
All the very best to all of you!! We're off to Austria but don't forget to get your BS league cup predictions in. Uoh know who you are!! Robbie.....you should know our upcoming FA cup competition will feature non league players.....similarly isaw and anyone else should also take note.
Just reading about the u18s of a couple years ago. Heard good things about Sion Spence who was released by us and picked up by Palace. The reason he was released was to accomodate Colwill. The bit I dont get us that 'there was only room for one of them'. Surely if you have significant talent in one position you try to hang on to it. Im not saying you keep hold of everyone. But if you have stand out potential with only a *** paper between them you flex to accomodate them.
Finished 0-2 to Ipswich. Denham looked very good at the back. Sam Bowen not so - looked unfit coming back after his injury and taken off at half time. Eli King is one who could do us a job in midfield, but this under 23 stuff is a mile away from competitive Championship football.
Hope they don't go on a losing streak now. That's a couple of reverse scorelines in recent games isn't it? Need to keep as much positivity flowing within the club as possible, wherever it stems from.
Missing Zimba and Connolly, out on loan plus those graduated to the first team? I thought King looked a good prospect when he came on as sub for the firsts earlier in the season. Big, strong and fit with a good first touch and neat passing.
Eli King and Denham were the pick of the bunch today - Patten did OK as well. Crole up front instead of the absent Zimba didn't look out of place either. A big lad who's still growing into his body - a bit like Colwill. Some good passing between the lads, though as I said earlier, under 23's is a mile away from the rigours of Championship football.
Yes, it is a big jump in physicality, speed of thought and touch. However experience at a higher level is good if not over done and sorts the future men from the boys, so to speak.
City under 23's are 0-1 down to the Jacks at the moment with 25 minutes gone. TBH, the Jacks look better than us and deserve their lead.
