Make that 3-0. Connolly with the goal. Denham @ CB looks a good option for the first team - he's quick and positive.
Total dominance from the City under 23's......it could have been double figures the way they outplayed Watford. Sang was very good again (wearing the No.10 shirt as well ), and great to see Kieran Evans back on the pitch again after his injury - and he played the full 90. The young centre backs Denham and Connolly look very good prospects for next season. That may have a bearing on contract decisions for our ageing first team occupants of those spots. McGuinness, Denham and Connolly would have the pace on and off the ball to cope with the likes of Billy Sharp who was made to look like Usain Bolt by Morro and Co. Accept that under 23's is a different game from Championship battles, but you can't ask any more than a thumping 4-0 win over Watford and 11 wins on the bounce.
They've got plenty of time - what we need right now is to utilise those we're getting ready and knocking on the door.
Nice to see a conveyor belt running though. With a few of the 23s with the 1st team, hopefully a few of the 18s pushing into the 23s.
City's under 23's play at Millwall Friday afternoon. Be very interesting to see who isn't playing in that one as a clue for the first team squad for Brum. Sang and Bagan deserve to be in contention for recalls. Maybe a bit early for CB's Denham and Connolly, but they're bound to get a shout before long if only to be on the first team bench for experience.
I’d have Sang in central midfield for a prolonged spell. Certainly if the central defence continues to leak then one or both of the U23 lads must come into contention.
Still 1-0 to the Wall with 20 minutes left. Haven't seen the team sheet, but I expect half the regulars will be with the first team squad tomorrow.
Finished 1-0 to Millwall. Never mind, first defeat of the season, but the previus 11 wins on the bounce is pretty impressive stuff.
Hope so with Morro suspended. No Eli King either plus Sang, Colwill, Harris all effectively first teamers. First defeat will make them more determined next time.
