Should have heard the senior Hull nurse on Burnsy the other morning. Harrowing listening and a lot different message from her to the one SW3 quoted.
thats unusual, the LFT tests usually show negative even when somebody positive , ive lost count of the amount of people i know who have been confirmed positive and done an LFT test anyway which showed them negative......im still surprised so much credibility is given to them, may as well stick a twiglet up your nose and see what that says
Did you miss a zero out there - we're already well past that https://assets.publishing.service.g...041833/20211216_OS_Daily_Omicron_Overview.pdf
Extrapolated from the s-gene target failure rate - over 70% of cases in London. So if OLM said he thought 50% of cases were now Omicron I wouldn't disagree.
Saw that but I have no idea what the s gene target failure thing means, even after reading the notes. What I did understand was on the first page Confirmed Omicron cases total 11,708
s-gene testing is the current method for confirming Delta variant. The assumption at the moment is that if you are positive for Covid, but not for Delta, then you have the Omicron variant. Not all labs are able to run the tests to determine which variant you have, and especially for confirming Omicron. So s-gene target failure is a stand-in for Omicron determination - it's still fairly reliable otherwise they wouldn't be using it in the official figures.
There’s about 4-500 people at my place I think. Everyone who was WFH has been back a few months. There’s usually 3 or 4 off at any one time from what you hear about (I don’t know or work with everyone). Maybe 4 or 5 have been in hospital over the last 2 years with it.
ok, badly worded. It is a reasonable extrapolation that is consistent with the sampling from labs that can test for Omicron.
Yet more still coming out of South Africa that Omicron is much milder yet no one in the Uk seems to be listening, Maybe the best advise is to turn off the news. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...s-hospitalizations-in-omicron-wave-much-lower
could be right , a few times during lockdown i had days without tele, twitter, and just went for walks and read a book and its best ive felt in ages. should do it more.
They don't seem to be listening in France Norway and Denmark where they are bringing in more restrictions than we are.
Both tests are different the Lateral Flow Test detects the proteins and the PCR the virus or fragments of it. Lateral Flow Tests need high levels of the virus to be present. PCR will detect if you have any virus in your system That is why the LFT can be negative, the amount of virus you have is very small and the PCR will come back as positive, even if you had covid some time ago you may still test positive.
thats why i just think they are pointless , i was working quite closely with somebody earlier this year whos wife had it, he went for a PCR on the Sunday but then also had an LFT on the Monday Morning. dont worry he says i was negative , 6 hours later he gets his result from PCR , oh dear i am positive after all, and cleared off home after wed been sharing a workspace all day. week before i went on holiday as well i was fuming he didnt stay at home while his results came in, but i was told he followed procedure by taking an LFT , ( which he did ) but still a load of bollocks when that can happen
No they are of great benefit because you should not test positive if you had Covid say two months ago. The PCR test is likely to still give you a positive. The LFT is quick and cheap. It is a great tool in the fight to beat the virus.
think its changed now, if your double jabbed without any symptoms...i know the operations manager said hed followed our procedure when i complained what a **** he was thats what makes this worse though, while not having any of the classic covid symptoms, he spent all day saying how rough he felt, but dont worry cos ive done an LFT!
