Can't see how they can possibly allow the AFCON to go ahead... and yet they seem to be insisting it will.....

If I lived more locally I would. Got my eye on Bradford PA v Halifax in the FA Trophy, if that's on

    Just watching question time
    The panel aren’t wearing masks
The audience are but whenever one asks a question they can take their masks off
    How fuxking pointless is that

"Had he been vaccinated, he would probably still be here." The stepson of the UK's 'first Omicron victim' has told LBC he was fit and healthy but refused to have a coronavirus vaccine.

For the family and the medical staff who looked after him, it must be an utterly heartbreaking and frustrating situation to deal with. Plus, all the time the medical staff are treating the unvaccinated, other sick people can't get a look-in.

May have been over 70 which would move him up the at risk league table.

He was already in hospital for 2 days with something else before he even tested positive for covid...for what ever reason they are refusing to disclose what he was originally in for.

It sounds like he was fairly old, but from what this fella says, it doesn't sound like he was already in hospital...

There was a nurse interviewed on the news last night, they started asking her about this and she said it was deeply upsetting that they had patients dying unnecessarily and they had to stop the interview as she started crying.

What's the sickness/absence rate in everyone's place of work like? I work from home, and so do my team, so we're not typical. Just trying to work out - if 88k people got positive results yesterday, then that's probably 80k people out of the workforce for 10 days. Probably 100k today for another 10 days, 115k tomorrow etc etc. Its probably very fortunate timing because so many people take time off between Christmas and New Year anyway, so maybe the impact won't be as bad as it could be, but a bit worrying for essential services.

I suspect there's quite a lot of people with positive tests that aren't included in these results. I know several people who've had a positive lateral flow and have just notified the people they've had contact with and isolated themselves, rather than going for a PCR.

Based on the news coming out of Denmark today, I think it's likely that around 5% of the cases in the UK now are Omicron.

Where my lad works they have to have regular lateral flow tests. Last week 3 tested positive. They the had PCR tests which all came back negative. Granddaughter is off school as her best mate has covid. The girl had it earlier this year. So much for immunity. My son's better half is off work as she took them somewhere in the car so had also been in close contact. Son and grandson don't have to isolate because although in the same house as two people who had been in close contact with the infected person they weren't in close contact with her. Funny carry on.
