Robert right or central, and rotating? Maybe Robert Lee...

    Forward, back, sideways doesn't matter

Robert was a quality player, Obertan is sh1t

Collie here reckons we can't afford to be carrying lazy players

    What about Obertan, and Best?

Ok so best isn't very lazy, he's just sh1t and still needs carried

Erm, Colly. And I didn't say anything about lazy players, Robert wasn't lazy he was just either unwilling to or incapable of defending whatsoever and is symptomatic of our 'score one more than you' system of the early 2000's which was worse defensively than Keegans best side. We're now the tightest team in the league and are sitting in 4th place with a makeshift left back, why throw away the protection Jonas provides to push Ben Arfa onto the left wing for no reason?

Obertan being thus far useless has no relevance whatsoever to your argument, and nor does Best being lazy and/or ****, which he isn't.

Obertan and Best arent lazy. Obertan is very naturally talented but he has no idea how to use it.

This for me! We all slate Ober for not getting back quick enough, I don't think Ben Arfa could do it either. Giving him the free role and the space to do what he wants is the way forward, and where I think he'd thrive the most! I'd rather have him central, cutting through defences, than running up and down the wing!

Wait, i'll refresh your memory, seeing as this post was such a long time ago.

You made this statement, to which i hinted, we can't afford a 'Robert' but we can afford an 'Obertan'

So tell me *Colly, how has this NO relevance to my argument?

I didnt say it was good did I?

You can see he's got ability, he just doesnt know when to beat his man or play the ball back, and he cant whip a cross in either, drills them too much.

Obertan definitely has ability, that much is obvious. He just needs to improve (quite a lot). He's got brilliant pace, knows how to run at defences, it's just his final product that is ****e poor. He's only 22. There's definite room/time to improve. Just shouldn't be a first teamer. Works best coming off the bench and running at tired defences.

Really? What an original view. We can all see Marveaux needs to start, and I think he will. Pointlessly slating our own players does no good though, I bet you were one of the fans sarcastically cheering him off werent you?

No but you practically dismissed Robert, Mr Selective memory.

Say what you want about Robert, he pi$$es all over any of our current 'wingers'

Sorry i don't know what the 'original view' is when i don't spend as much time on forums as you.

I have other, more pressing issues.

And to answer your question/assumption - no.

Oh and i'm sure Obertan and Best will lose sleep tonight because i've slagged them off on t'interwebz

I didn't dismiss Robert at all, you brought him up after I said Ben Arfa couldn't hack the defensive side of wing play. Robert was fantastic at what he did, and would've been superb in a 2003 Chelsea-esque front three where he wouldn't have the defensive responsibilities he shirked. You've taken this as a personal attack on Laurent Robert and gone on the offensive (you aren't him are you?), without even making an attempt to answer the question posed by the OP.

Oh, and 'I'm too cool for the internet' is a horrendous defense to criticism on a messageboard.
