This is a huge game. West Ham’s draw to Burnley means they’re only two points ahead of us. A win on Wednesday would have us leapfrog them in the league. This is going to be an extremely tough game but I am hoping, with our home record as strong as it is, we have enough to see it through.
Will be a much tougher game than Southampton. But the chance to leapfrog them and get into the top 4 should be the motivation we need. Hopefully we will have Smith Rowe back for this game, and I'd like to see Martinelli and Lacazette start again.
Well, I guess we know how this is going to end. Ultimately, it’s the right decision, but what a mess.
2-0. FT. Excellent performance and result. I was worried the situation with Auba was going to loom large over this game, but we didn’t let it distract us, put in an excellent performance and throughly deserved to win. Glad to see there are more sources of goals from around the pitch and that burden is being spread. Our home form really is impeccable so far - just need to sort out the away form!
Yep totally agree, best game we have played in a long time. If it hadn't been for Fabinaski would have been 4 or 5 nil. Not sure about the penalty but it made no difference.. Well done guys
Missed the game as I was at work, but that is a massive win for us Great to see Martinelli stepping up too. He should be starting every game now for me.
I gotta be honest I ****ing LOVE Martinelli. The kid has genuine class. Thought Lacazette was great again today - played more like a 10/false 9. Work rate was spot on. Overall workrate and intensity is MUCH better at home. Arteta needs to fix this. The big issue is now .. how do we fit Martinelli, ESR, Odengaard, Saka and Smith Rowe in the same side? Someone's gotta be benched.
But long term as good as Lacazette workrate is - we NEED a top class striker to make the difference. Imagine a Haaland or Vlahovic down the middle yesterday with the amount of space Saka, Odengaard, ESR etc.. were creating. A Top class CF would have bagged a few goals. Vlahovic is going to be very hard to sign, Haaland would cost a small fortune.. Andre Silva or Calvin Lewin maybe.
I see a lot of fans mentioning Haaland; that’s just a pipe dream. no way he would come to Arsenal, we’re light years away from being a club he would consider joining. He’ll go to a team regularly fighting for their domestic league and the Champions League. Dortmund to Arsenal is a (big) step down at the moment.
Well I think its unlikely we could sign him mainly because of Champions League football. If we finished in the top 4 I do think that opens up some of those bigger signings. Really the squads is good and only improving. What IF we added two Top Class players in the areas we need it most CF & CM. Its only two signings but I think this side would be good enough to challenge. ----------------------------Ramsdale---------------------------- Tomiyasu---------White---------Gabriel------------Tierney ---------------------Partey--------Rice/Bellingham---------- --------------------------Odengaard----------------------------- ------Saka---------------Haaland-------------SmithRowe-- Bench: Martinelli, Lacazette, Xhaka, Saliba, Tavares, Leno. All a pipe dream of course but when you look at the age of the side and the fact we've cleared out most of the dead wood - This squad is on paper pretty good now.
What's happening with Pepe btw? Even Nketiah is getting brought on as a sub but Pepe has only made 2 apps this Season.
Yeah even so - playing him would help get his worth up. Surely he offers more than Nketiah off the bench? I would guess Mikel is unhappy with his work/attitude in training.
Not sure I've seen a worse professional footballer, who offers absolutely nothing in any attribute, than Nketiah since Denilson.
