Adam Peaty - Struggling but the non main sport candidate - absolutely dominated his event more than any other sportsman in the world this year with two olympic golds, including being the first ever British swimmer to retain an olympic title, and not only the first swimmer ever to hold every available title at his distance at the same time, but to repeat that feat for two olympic cycles. Also broke multiple world records. 4. Emma Raducanu - Best of the women’s possibilities - always going to be nominated for what was pretty much a fairytale story and an incredible achievement 5. Raheem Sterling - Seriously? Shouldn’t have been in the England team based on performances. - sort of agree, however, while pretty much every football fan was criticising him, the football pundits (from within the game) were almost universal in saying he was the key performer and the key reason for England's first run to a final since 2021. Sometimes they do just see it different to the fans. 6. Sarah Storey - Who? - Didn't need to Google as she is Britain's most successful Olympian of all time and set that record this year.
